Big fan of high-budget documentaries like Planet Earth and Blue Planet, but I enjoyed this short just as much. Great narration, wonderful comments, the way that you feel about this toad's miraculous life cycle really shines through. Large documentaries tend to range all over the planet in the things they show us, but this short had a very intimate feel, like I'd just sat down to listen to a friend tell me about what they enjoy living in a place far away. Greetings and love from Canada, don't know if I'll ever make it to Colorado, but I'll be thinking about the spadefoot toads and their arabesques of mud when it rains here in the summer.

Thank you, Mark. Glad you like them, too. What a grand old world this is, huh? Stay warm, maybe the Monsoons will come again soon :)

@@pogonomyrmex Throughout the years when I go hiking up Graveyard Canyon from our property in McElmo Canyon I will come across some very smaller pools that had washed down tadpoles from up above from larger pools. These smaller pools with hundreds of tadpoles are trapped unless we get some more monsoons to wash them further down into McElmo Creek or hopefully a larger pool where they can mature and live. Knowing these tadpoles I come across won't make it as there's no rain in sight I've collected hundreds and hiked back home where I have released them in my large pond and I get the watch them mature and become frogs. I'm just so amazed that we even have these toads in the high desert. Thanks again for your beautiful video and making people aware of these fragile unique creatures.

Yes - it blows me away away. And not just spadefoots - we’ve got red-spotted and woodhouse’s toads here, and a few spots with canyon treefrogs(!). And we have Tiger salamanders! I share your disbelief and wonder.
