Yea I remember you saying the next walk would be 65th street and seeing the burger king. Lol this is a very interesting walk. I liked those big houses on 19th avenue

The last time I went to the San Gennaro feast, I went with a friend and it was a Saturday Night. It was so crowded; we couldn't even walk through. We were literally picked up by the crowd and we were one big body of humans moving up the streets. Because it was so difficult to get to the food stands, we left the first chance we had and went to a restaurant in Little Italy for dinner and then to Ferrara's bakery for pastry and coffee. Thanks for this walk and the memories it brings back. Great walk!

Should be below 1500ft (CTA-B), so no problem as long as we have CAVOK (what appears to be the case) and pilot is not asleep. However, all VFR need to be retained.
@StrideWarrior6 күн бұрын
Yea.. he definitely had clear vis. up to 6 miles and such. My only concern is the area is very busy with helo and prop plane traffic - especially over the bridge. Also, military traffic has really increased in the last 6 months in this area. We had 2 Ospreys flying formation just an hour earlier in this spot, and Fort Hamilton (right where I am standing) has had alot of Black Hawk touch and go's - approaching at around 300 to 500ft.
@9nine11eleven5 күн бұрын
@@StrideWarrior Ah, I see , however all VFR pilots ( including military ) need to follow the VFR distance rulings.So there is really no military 'advantage' they may benefit of. In partiular as Bronx has no RD (Restricted) Airspace. Of course I would definitley remain at a distane from the Ospreys or otherwise.

When I was growing up, when someone mentioned Bed-Stuy, it was the same as saying don't go to that place. Actually, it has its' charm now that I watched your video. I also love those old doors on the homes, and you're right about the knocker on the door. It's the one that is in the movie Scrooge. I know because I watch it just about every Christmas season.

Newsstands all over Manhattan. Candy stores not so much. If you want candy, you can get some at the newsstand or deli.
@josephcostello69510 күн бұрын
@StrideWarrior I'm talking about about the ones you can get a soda magazine gum etc the one I remember we'll was shamrock on 5th ave between 58 and 59th streets. It's like all of them are gone now even the delis on the street. Its sad even some pizza places are gone.

Oh yea. Those are gone. There was still one left over by 35th Street and 7th Ave in Manhattan but closed down a few years ago. They had so many magazines. Anything from Photography to Model Railroads. And the last Candy Store in my neighborhood closed down about 10 years ago.

@StrideWarrior11 күн бұрын
Money Train went away in 2006. Not alot of cash to collect since everyone uses cards to pay. Now a days they just travel to stations in a van with an armed guard. I just saw one today. They were collecting the cash at 18th Avenue this morning.
