In the 80s the group I was in kept track of kills. I think we improved a skill after we got 4 kills. I have toyed with this idea a couple of times. I also have paid for better skills on vehicles for Alpha Strike. A few years ago I actually had a crew bail out of a hunter to survive (since they had a couple kills). I am thinking of doing a solo campaign and modifying it a bit to be like David Drakes Hammer's Slammers series hence, a lot more vehicles and infantry.

I played this game for the first time with my long term crush. Before the date, I watched this video and knew it was the game for us. My (now) gf (F54), lets call her Jane, loves this game. Thank you so much @TheBoardGameKaptain for teaching us how to play this game. I can't wait to teach our future children how to play also (if my gf can still have children haha).

Looks like a cool game. I recently was given a copy, but there is zero media about it out there. This video clip and one review is all that shows up world wide if you search for the game. It seems even the publisher has forgotten that it exists. I would love to know more about the game, but it seems that no one knows anything about it.

Great video thank you! I've watched most of your videos on all of the factions and I really appreciate your advice! I did notice perhaps a mistake in this video. I think you can't use the hero on legendary planets bc they have no tech speciatlities, that would be sick tho. I also am pretty sure that the faction tech don't count for the secret obj. unless you've put both the tokens on someone else's faction tech

60-120 mins to play the game...is a LIAR LOL.......hilarious 🤣 I think if the game is played co-operatively and turns are shared rather than solo, will help. In the test part, they say to worry more about enjoying solving the case as compared to beating Sherlock. I also think enjoying the process rather than the end result is probably more important. I think these games would suit ppl who really love solving things (I did part of a maths degree at Uni so that was all solving problems). They love a challenge. Ppl who like joining the dots and connecting things. Solving mysteries and being able to fill in missing gaps or having a guess at the missing gaps. Ppl who aren't afraid of failing. Those who aren't into kill and destroy games, or fast-moving games. Ppl who can sit back, take things in, work as a team, and enjoy a challenge over a glass or bottle of wine as they solve a mystery, without any pressure. Those who are happy to talk about the game after it is completed about what happened and what they did and why they did things. Ppl who love co-op games. Great for creating closeness in the family unit as gives them something to focus on, all together.

Great review! Love the stacks of books as any gamer would have. The artwork on the books is great! The rules are clanky. Specially with mega damage. After looking through some of the books always think, why are we not still playing this!! Then it all comes back..lol Still a fantastic world setting.

These are a great idea. The bad news is that the 2e Remaster changed the rules drastically for classes like Wizard with their schools, and feat and spell names have changed, so a lot of it no longer applies.

I'm guessing that rule for rerolling all the dice makes the game simpler and faster to play. Keeping certain dice for would definitely be a good house rule or variant.

Hey, what a great video! I am starting to play TI and for my second game I am planning to go with Federation of Sol. The problem is that the one player took L1z1x and it looks to me that my ground forces are useless in this case. I guess that in this case I need to build more fighters in order to avoid their bombarders as much as possible, but then I don´t know if I am loosing the best advantage of this faction, which is ground forces...Any tip that you can provide to deal with this bombarder/ground-force-killers?

This thing is a total work horse in time frame. Second line clan mechs tended torwards having really brutally efficient weapons load outs and the look on someone’s face when you bring second line mechs and it hits like a mad cat is hilarious.

FYI: They also Errata on the win condition. Instead of when either the railroads or towns were empty, ending the game, now it is 2 of 3 conditions. Railroads sell out Towns sell out Or buildings sell out (which means you would either play with normal set up with base game tiles or swap out base game tiles for new game tiles, which you probably should be doing anyway, so you can not only have a better chance to see the special expansion tiles by to also have the building tiles a chance to run out.) Either way, I still think the railroads and Towns will sell out first, unless maybe at a higher player count.

This is a far better tutorial than any of the others I’ve seen. Most of the others are getting the instructions wrong, so anyone using those videos will end up playing the game wrong. This video actually follows the instruction book correctly. Thank you for a great video!

Just played a round of Rift with randoms and It was the most chaotic fun ever 😂 suicide-bomb-running 18 years old Sailormoons, bloodthristy 3 years old Killermachines, braindead Robots and more. Pure chaos. Pure fun. Very grandios world.

If you want to try a very different kind of a deckbuilding game I would recommend Evolution Earth: Cataclysm. In that game you build your deck with animals, continents and cataclysms. This game simulates Earth through billions of years so it is very aggressive as well with those cataclysmic attack cards. It´s very fast too even though it simulates such a long time. It´s sold on the gamecrafter and also it has a free print´n play version. All info on BGG. Also some videos on youtube.

I played the ICE MERP game and was more than skeptical when I heard this game referred to as the best iteration of Tolkien’s world. However, after buying it, not only do I absolutely agree with that opinion but it might very well be my favorite rpg, period.

I’m so happy that the art is based on the novels as opposed to the Peter Jackson films!
