Great trio this was, Chris Karen (Drums) Pete Morgan (Bass) loved the trio in the 70’s.

Watching his great skill and dexterity, and knowing how the disease cruelly took it all away from him, if you are healthy now then make sure you enjoy every minute of it - you never know what the future holds for you.

Interesting to look at the audience here, not one scruffbag to be seen, how times have changed.

I went to see Patto as often as I could, best live band at the time. I saw Tempest at the Marquee once and that was the last time I saw Ollie, I went to see Kevin Ayers and there was some short bloke on guitar, not Ollie. Turns out, the short bloke was Andy Summers. He was good but he wasn't Ollie. I was fortunate, London was buzzing in the early 70's, rock clubs, folk clubs, that was normal for me.

I lived in Dublin for most of the 70’s. My one time 😊😊housemate was a friend of Sandy Denny. Sandy came to visit a few times. We’d all gather round the fire and sing and play most of the night. We were devastated when she died.

EXCELLENT BLUESY JAZZ by Dudley and combo...recall JOHNNY CARSON showcased him several times on the TONIGHT SHOW, and was excellent solo and with their jazz orchestra led by 'DOC' SEVERENSON...Fantastic Times...likely under-appreciated by many, including those who only knew of Dudley's acting. THANKS!!

Erroll Garner influence of course......"In an interview he recalled the day he finally mastered Garner's unique left-hand strum and was so excited that he walked around for several days with his left hand constantly playing that cadence"......such a warming clip this is.

Dudley was such a talent! Hearing this number, especially the introduction, I could hear the influence of the great Oscar Peterson.

I saw them in 72, headlining the Tower in Philly and it was POCO at their very best..I had bought "Deliverin" on 8 track and knew what it was gonna be like and the band was amazing and did not disappoint. I heard that Jim Messina was there in the crowd somewhere but I cannot verify that

Pete McGurk and Cris Karan are so brilliant, what a fabulous trio! First abum I bought was Genuine Dud in '66!
@8saltmanАй бұрын
Pete McGurk killed himself in 1968 after his girlfriend left him. The bass player in the video from 1971 is probably Peter Morgan.
@JamesPink-j2kАй бұрын
@@8saltman didn't realise that. I know every note and slide fron McGurk on the early LP, such a loss of great talent, buth McGurk and Dud! Been a drummer, both giging ametur and pro since '67, Dud and Chris Kuran have been guiding lights in my playing. Brilliant!
@8saltmanАй бұрын
@@JamesPink-j2k Before Pete McGurk, Hugo Boyd was their bassist but he died in a car crash I believe in 1961. In the YT video 'Dudley Moore plays Gershwin at the Hollywood Bowl 1984' He introduces drummer Nick Ceroli and bassist Ray Brown as "the greatest bass player around, dead or alive, and God knows there are a lot of dead ones". When Pete Mc Gurk died Dudley Moore was afraid his band was somehow cursed. Good thing YT exists so we can still enjoy his music.
