Well thanks for that. Looks easy enough but strategic as hell. Interested.

2025 is year of 2p games for me. Iliad & Ichor are on top of my list for simplicity & durable components. Wish Azul (both Queen Gardens and Duel) used sleevable cards instead of carboard tiles. Another niche title on my anticipation list is Algomancy - feels like MtG without cashgrabing element :D

I think you guys rather badly misunderstood Modern Art. It almost sounded like you think its a game about making buying low and selling high. Its not! The game is about manipulating the market (i.e. your fellow players) so that the artists you want are the top ranked artists in the last two rounds, when prices are high. Then, late in the game you sell off valuable paintings of the those top artists.The game is about strategizing from the start so you are on the right side of those sales at the end-you want to be selling those premium paintings, not buying them.

RE: Joker quartet melds, you meld them from your hand? Or you meld them when you’ve collected 4 in front of you? It wasn’t clear to me from the video, since “hands” of cards are laid out on the table, just like the jokers are put in front of you.
@BitewingGames7 күн бұрын
@@briand6973 you only meld 4 Jokers that are in your hand. Once you’ve played jokers they stay in front of you, but you can’t use them in any way, including to meld.

We just played the game and I think the whole building next to a water source is confusing. It appears to only be where you place the moon tokens but I feel the starting chasm is definitely a water source. A lair should be able to go next to it. They also should have got rid of the rivers cause those are also water sources. It really confused us for a while.

Yellow and Yangtze is the greatest game ever designed. It's okay to like Tigris better. However, it feels intellectually dishonest to consider one a masterpiece and dislike the other. Both 10/10 games for me. I agree about Rheinländer! I'd love to see Bitewing bring this one back.

How would you compare the new Callisto vs. the original Callisto: The Game?
@scottdarrington600925 күн бұрын
The board of the new Callisto is variably sized but doesn't allow completely free placement because of that, and I think the game gets a fair bit flattened because of that. True, you have to build out from your existing pieces, so in theory it shouldn't make that big of a difference, but the starting pieces always have to go on the edges in the new version, and you can more easily just build in your own little corner and ignore the other players. In the original, everybody is up in everybody's business from the word go; it's great.

I believe Desperados was originally self published in 1980 to some extent before 1990 when he had the wider release. He also had Goldrausch (Gold Digger) release that year with a similar theme, and that one was more successful (5th in DSP voting).

For a name, how about “Thinking Inside the Box” (as opposed to the cliche of thinking outside the box)?
@mmarcatiliАй бұрын
Could be more removed from Board Games specifically, like "TableTopics". Should the cast outlast the Vision to Product journey, then the name covers any other areas you may shift into. Or "The Game Components", covers what goes into the game, what it's made up of, and you also get to call yourselves The Game Components.
