I gave this video a thumbs down because of the LOUD and invasive background music. I could hardly hear the narrative and the more I increased the volume the harder it got to hear it.

@@newzealandballnewzealand-h7553To be fair, when England colonised New Zealand. There weren’t any recent eruptions, so they thought it’d be best to build cities on Auckland. Also they didn’t have the technology to determine if Auckland was infested with volcanoes.

When new volcano erupts from ocean and make pyroclastic flows, it sounds like a Plino-Surtseyan or a Surtso-Plinian eruption.
@matthewpicard44634 жыл бұрын
Generally the first phases are usually phreatomagmatic and sometimes accompanied by base surges but then usually taper to just more strombolian or hawaiian types (With exceptions, of course) that produce lava flows. But from the ocean would very likely be surtseyan or close to it The lava isn't very viscous here due to the low sillica present (Mainly mafic rocks) and so can't generate the explosive power to drive an ash column high into the air to make a plinian style eruption. That'd be more like Taranaki, ruapehu, taupo etc which are more intermediate to felsic type rocks Hope that helped clear some things up

Great to see this info out there. I was hoping for more detail in part 2 but it appears to be the same video as part 1. Although I must admit I only watched seven minutes of it.

I see part 1 was a different video. So my apologies for getting that wrong, but I am pretty sure the two links on the web page both were linked to part 2.

Dont be. Volcanic eruptions are more rare than Earthquakes, plus Volcanos are more predictable so if one were to erupt you would of had week warning.
