I love how the story, oh so slightly, shifts a few times back to the content of the introduction. Very clever. I have been binging on videos concerning our (US) inept government and have found myself in an angered state. Short tempered. I needed to get back to something in which I enjoy and brings me happiness. Thanks for the opportunity to listen to these gems! BRAVO!!!

Absolutely the most depressing story. I kept listening in the belief that it had to get better; it never did.

Thanks for posting. Excellent story and great performance, as usual. Nighy improves a great story so much, and brings out all the humour with the slightest inflections. As do other performers. I do prefer the lighter touch of the radio play over the original novels. which are a little grittier. The radio plays wouldnt exist without the novels for which I'm deeply grateful. I hope the author profits.

Slight spoiler 🚨 The themes of sexism, ageism and misogyny within the police force runs strongly in this one. From the comments on how unattractive and too old the female victim was, to commenting on the size of the vicar's daughter's chest. Interesting to listen to this nowadays.

Much more complex than the Hitchcock version as I remember it. The book is always better. Birds aren't real, LOL.

What a twist ending. Using the robbers to cover up the wife and husband having stolen from the bank. R.D. Wingfield was a master of the twist.

Look at the hand of the one writing in the book .. twisted fingers. And the faces on the left and right are melted. The one with a bowler hat is missing the top of his head. Yes, AI
