My God, the shock of seeing my boyhood self behind Dai Davies (to his right)..all longish dark brown hair!..when the penalty is about to be taken! I remember being there but never twigged the camera had caught me!

My last game before I emigrated was this season v Derby, we won 5-0. I remember trying to hold back my tears as I left the Kop and walked out onto Walton Breck Road. Thought it was my last time. Funnily enough at that game, I got Derby and England defender Roy McFarland’s autograph, a fellow scouser! Been back three times and seen about twenty games since. Great season ‘79.

I think mcdermott started that move too, I think he got it off the goalie, but it's edited out in this video,

What fantastic memories a fantastic achievement made even more astonishing considering the state of the pitches and when we won the European Cup it was a reward for me and my dad Charlie 50 who had supportted Liverpool through all the dark days got his moment of glory Phil brown.

Keegan was handled superbly by Buchan in the Cup Final. No mean feat, considering how great Kevin was in 77.

Unhappily ,there was this damned Fairclough at the end...But the first goal and the mistake of Curkovic didn t help...The ASSE should have won the Champions Cup the season before...

Keegan was a human dynamo.....and heighway was a great under rated player....

Superb video, bringing back so many memories. Watching footage Steve Heighway again has blown me away. I remember him being a good player, but the truth is he was one of the greatest to ever put on the red shirt. Fullbacks would have been terrified of him in those days. What a player.

UPDATE: Thank you for all the kind words, this has blown up more recently so I should say for those who are new here; I do plan to make more of these to help fill in the gap from 79 until 87/88 but creating these back to back burnt me out last year and real life has been super stressful. I haven’t forgotten about these videos its just when I start again I want to make sure the quality is improved with more linking narrative throughout the season and the matches included in the right order (i somehow managed to mess up the ordering of a match on each season review) and going back to change these in post is not possible due to missing files, meaning I want to take my time double checking. Also shoutout to Dave Waller’s immense collection as this literally would not be possible without him. See you soon reds ❤

This was my all time favourite team...and not many would agree but I always thought mighty mouse was the better out of him and Kenny...as much as I love Kenny...KK was a more dynamic attacker and never stopped causing havoc from the first whistle

If Bob Paisley had got his wish Keegan and Dalglish would have played together. Some Liverpool team that would have been.

Was that the Anfield crowd singing God Save the King at 16 minutes? How times have changed.
@martinquirk74683 ай бұрын
As if ... 😂 ... Don't be silly, we were singing God Save Our Team. Clean your ears out. The King didn't sign for us until the week before the 77-78 started and The Queen would still be alive for another 45 years.

@@LFCSeasons very understandable. There were probably plenty of people who remembered that time he ordered the Royal Navy to train its guns on Vauxhall Rd during the 1911 Transport Strike and the innocent people murdered by the Police.
