Great way of explaining the basic synopsis of the book in a brief manner rather than revealing the core happenings within the plot..👍

I like the idea of cozy fantasy but it's funny how it gained traction. Because before it was popular, I only ever heard people talk about cozy mystery. Ohh, you unlocked some vague memory about previous booktube with the dark fairy tail mention. Really interesting to think how that shifted. I just need to focus on my physical books during the first half of the year and not get influenced by anticipated releases I won't end up reading until two year later :') I hit my reading goal but it was a close call. I mean, I did read a lot but less than I planned. At least my physical tbr is smaller. Happy New Year 🐢✨️

Tbh I feel like general fantasy readers are not largely into all these new fantasy blends (cozy fantasy, romantasy). It seems like the target audience is just different, so in a way the publisher only gains. The readers that love fantasy still read epic fantasy for most part. Cozy fantasy and romantasy attracts a whole new batch of readers, so maybe it’s smart actually. The Villain POV era was huge as far as I remember it. It also bled into film and tv and we got Once Upon a Time, Descendants and a bunch of different Disney adaptations. It wasn’t even that long ago that it finally ran its course but it feels like it’s been decades. I wish I had your willpower. My physical tbr is like an unmovable object.

I love the approach of these videos in which it's more spelled out what a person might enjoy in a book if you didn't like it. But I still don't think that any on this list might be for me. I read and liked 'can't spell treason without tea' but it's not a favourite.

i also disliked venom book and it wasn't even bc of the main couple i actually was into them ok they scratched an inch i wish wlw romance had more dynamics like theirs. but. anything else was so awful and at some places offensive. i couldn't give it more than 2 stars in good faith. despite as i said liking the main romance plot.

Haha guys, I'm not saying it's a masterpiece don't get me wrong, BUT if you're in it for the smut, thrill, and Wattpad-like romance, it's a perfect match. I think going into it with low expectations is key; after all, I've seen people saying they really loved it, so

That's a pretty tray! I love the idea of perfumes but I easily get headaches from scents so I don't use them :") rip to the autumn bike era Still need to read anything by Kiersten White, another book to add to the list ✨️🐢
@BooksWaffles
@BooksWaffles Ай бұрын
Oh, I'm sorry! Scents are so deeply tied with specific memories for me, I can't imagine. The fact that I can't ride my bike in the snow is a real bummer. That's my only exercise. I need to figure out something else, but I HATE gym and basic exercise so much. Tried swimming but it's also so annoying in the winter. Pre- and post-swimming takes way way too much time with long hair.

pumpkin emoji. Bloom sounds really good. I need to get around to it. I recently read Death in the Spires by KJ charles and Bitter End by Alexa Donne. Both were really fun mystery/thrillers! and both quite atmosphere, though a completely different setting (historical Oxford vs 2024 ski trip)

Idk if there was an emoji to post but ❤❤❤❤ I dont mind people pointing out problematic aspects of books as an interesting discussion point, but when people read Dark Romance and go “omg why is it so dark and problematic” as of the readers don’t know that. Its like reading horror and getting angry every time someone is murdered because it might tempt a future serial killer.

It's always nice to see hearts in the comments lol I just find these discussions counterproductive. Why are we arguing about the elements that make this specific genre this specific genre. It's moral panic, nothing else.

I already had my eye on a couple books, I came across this video... I'm hesitant to trust the taste of somebody I don't know but "Mistakes Were Made" really sounded interesting, so I added it to my order, got it a few days ago... I read it back-to-back, god that was a great book. I want to gush a bit about all the ways it pleasantly surprised me; I'll do that in a reply to this comment, but to keep this comment relatively short: just the idea, the overall story arc, could've given us a good, comfortable, satisfying book simply by being nothing more than "solid" in execution; like, a 6/10 would've been an enjoyable read, would've been worth the purchase. But god, the *layers*, the choices that were made at certain inflection points, were so deftly handled... I remember looking up at one point, noticing I was on page 68, and thinking how I expected to be at least 100 pages in because of how much had been stuffed into those 68 pages; the character development, the plot, it's crazy that so much had been packed into that amount of pages.

I also have been truly enjoying crime solving romances this past year! I would recommend Wolf at the door by Charlie Adhara (mm). For romantic suspense/action packed romance I would suggest Anne Stuart (fm) (for example Maggie Bennett) but she is very old school.

Any suggestions? I’m a first time writer, I found a deep passion for writing and as I am lesbian, I wanted to give my community the books they deserve. I’d like to disclose that as the author, I will probably be biased since it’s my own creation so please keep in mind that getting my book to a wanting audience is my goal and I’ll be transparent by that but genuinely, I could see myself benching it on my period in a heartbeat. Though my book is not yet published, it’s at page 327 out of I have no idea how many thousands of pages there will be and I would love to get some ideas or suggestions of what the community would like to read! Short context without major spoilers, it’s a dark romance wlw with a tad bit of thriller and physiological stuff sprinkled in as a bonus. The relationship between the characters is rather intense, meant to keep the reader on their toes, any thoughts? I’d love to hear them! It’ll be published under the name of Hit me like a woman which might give off some hints of the direction it’s going to sass its way over to.

The TV series is both a prequel of the first book yet a hodge-podge of ALL 6 books. Season 1 actually ends with Rose and Lissa FINALLY running away. They scrambled the events more than eggs. They got rid of the Moroi being Eastern Orthodox and created some fictional religion with Priestesses and even created a new language called Old Moroi and m0ney named after St. Vladimir. This show was such a trainwreck, I'm SO happy it was canceled. 😂 But I loved your video and reactions, please do more!

I have The last Word in my tbr, and finally I bought my first Kingfisher! It is Nettle and bone, now i just have to read it! 😂 This month i read the book 4th of the Bridgerton's, the one with Penelope and Collin and, girl, it was really fun! I dont like the regency romances but this one has been the exception! I also read The long walk by stephen king and if was adictive! Kind os sexist, like King's style, but good story. Oh! And Rosaline Palmer Takes the cake by Alexis Hall, wich i didnt like so much... I liked more the ending.

Motherhood in books is always fascinating, you always get people who hate a part and people who relate so much to the same part :') I need to put Malice on my list for next year. It sounds like a good duology I'm still sleeping on 🐢✨️
@BooksWaffles
@BooksWaffles 5 ай бұрын
It’s not that I related to it or I feel strongly about motherhood. I think I’ve gotten more and more neutral over the years, but there is a strong body horror element connected to pregnancy and child birth in the book that won’t leave anyone unmoved😂 Malice is such a great series. It’s relatively short (because duology), so it’s an easy commitment to make.
