I used to play this as a kid I was really confused what it was about cause it felt so eerie so I was kinda afraid 😅 (especially the door part) The only part I liked was the theater ? Where there was a bunch of music bc that’s how I discovered the song the Dock of Bay But now that I’m actually listening to him talk… he’s so real. He was definitely ahead of his time

I setup a Windows 95 Virtual Machine to play this. I first tried 95 version C with MS Plus and some of the graphics were messed up. The worst being the graveyard/day of the dead screen. I then used an original release Windows 95 Oem CD image and then it worked fine. I remember now having the same problem many years ago.

StingFan: Thank you for archiving the work so wonderfully. I was on the team at Starwave that built this beautiful thing -- so sublime, ahead of it's time and utterly pointless of a game. My copies were lost to the hightailings of life. Thanks truly, Joe Kubiniec

Thanks for uploading. I thoroughly enjoyed this on my first laptop back in the 90s. Don’t know what happened to it, but I’ve thought about looking to see if I can buy it online someplace many times. Again, thanks for uploading.

Have you noticed that the loop used in the demo for “Why Should I Cry For You” bears a striking similarity to that from Peter Gabriel’s live performance of “Shaking the Tree” (during “Secret World Live”)? ;)

Thank you for making these videos. We had this when i was about five years old, too young to really process it, but it still stuck out in my mind; partly because of how moody and atmospheric it was, putting it in line in my mind with something like the Myst games, but also because it was the first time I ever saw The Simpsons, as shown in this video. More than 20 years later, it's strange how some things stick with you. I still remember the pub, that door in the sea, and so many other disconnected little bits and pieces, even after all this time

At 4:19 Stings performs an incredible musical piece from the venezuelan composer Antonio Lauro. Its name is Natalia (1939) and it was dedicated to Lauro's daughter.

On mine, the graphics on the left (Picture of sting, the TV up above) appear as purple blocks. I've never gotten it to work right. Right now I'm using Oracle VirtualBox with a Win98 image.

Same here with the magenta/pink blocks. I've tried it in VMware, VirtualBox and PCem with Windows 95 and 98. What's the trick in order to make it work?

I have this wonderful 2 disc CD ROM game, being a big fan of The Police and Sting, I really enjoyed it. Too bad it does not play on any modern PC equipment, each time I want to play it I have to drag out the old laptop because I believe it was only developed for Windows 95! Today this seems archaic, but upon its release in 1995, it was innovative and groundbreaking. The graphics, although a bit clunky at times, still hold up today. This was a very creative way to get a look at the man and his music. Lots of Easter eggs to keep you busy for hours! Thanks for the post!

I created a virtual machine on my modern equipment in order to play this. I’m glad you enjoyed the videos. I tried to make it as close to a personal play experience as I could. Whenever I am having withdrawals, I just click on my videos wherever I am!

I agree, it is awesome. I haven't been able to locate that exact version anywhere yet, but I'll keep on looking. In the meantime, just keep on watching my video over and over! I will see if I can download the loop in a better version if I can't find it anywhere else.

StingFan I think I might have to install my copy of the interactive CD on my PC! Maybe I can extract the underlying .mp3, .wav or whatever file it is! If I can, I think I'll make a 10 hour loop so I can sleep to it! Lol
@paulschilling299628 күн бұрын
This version could be the original demo he made with his Synclavier, which he did most of his composing / demoing on. In the Part 10 video, you can hear some other song demos, played straight from the Synclavier

I appreciate your comment! I created a virtual machine using VirtualBox and my old Win98 CD in order to play it. I made the videos in hopes of putting together a web-based version of the game, but I don't really have the time. I decided to just post my videos. I think I covered all of the content. Glad you like it!
