So beautiful and so well played. Yet the background distracting noise is too much for me to really enjoy this beautiful song. I would love to hear it without all that disturbing noise. Gratitude for sharing your abilities. ❤

Mr. Cat says "thank you" for the kind words! I'm not sure what kind of cat he is. I adopted him from the Humane Society. But I think you're right, he definitely has either Siberian or Maine Coon in him!

I m looking for this partiture, where is?
@JohnBaumgardnerPianistАй бұрын
Hey there. As far as I know, the song isn't for sale on any online music stores. The 10,000 Miles sheet music was originally published in a book called Party Doll and Other Favorites by Mary Chapin Carpenter. I think it's out of print as well, but if you search on Amazon, you will find some used copies. Here's a link: www.amazon.com/Mary-Chapin-Carpenter-Party-Favorites/dp/1575602822/ref=sr_1_1?crid=16UIK8B7KCOOB&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.zOYoBcZaWy4Se5wgUAyo07YMj_FmGnnr29uehZghVQBP6EwJDxQz4GgHi9v4M4dX4I6NUp5cgP4N5iGOzIqKEg.rGpZixkUDAL49LenBArMB4nUJUcIAdesFrCnSMx6HRk&dib_tag=se&keywords=party+doll+music+book+mary+chapin+carpenter&qid=1734016165&sprefix=party+doll+music+book+mary+chapin+carpenter%2Caps%2C96&sr=8-1

We might kiss when we are alone Nobody's watching We might take it home We might make out when nobody's there It's not that we're scared It's just that it's delicate So why do you fill my sorrows With the words you've borrowed From the only place you've known? And why do you sing Hallelujah If it means nothing to ya? Why do you sing with me at all? We might live like never before When there's nothing to give Well how can we ask for more? We might make love In some sacred place The look on your face is delicate So why do you fill my sorrow With the words you've borrowed From the only place that you've known? And why do you sing Hallelujah If it means nothing to ya? Why do you sing with me at all? Why do you fill my sorrow With the words you've borrowed From the only place that you've known? Why do you sing Hallelujah If it means nothing to ya? Why do you sing with me at all?

Really?!? It's a beautiful song for a wedding. I've played it in wedding ceremonies quite a bit, but I haven't heard of too many other people using it for a wedding. When I do play it in a wedding, It always surprises me how many people don't know the song, but then ask what it was later, when the wedding is over. Thanks for listening!

Damn this made me tear up. It's such a beautiful but sad sounding version, just reminds me that all our girls are gone 😭
@JohnBaumgardnerPianist3 ай бұрын
I'm sorry it made you tear up, but I'm very happy that it made you feel something. I originally starting creating this version when my cat Otis passed away a couple of years ago. It was too hard to complete at the time, so I sidelined it and then brought it back out when Betty White passed away. So yeah, I arranged it with the very intention of making it sound sad. But oddly enough, I've had several people use this for their weddings. So I guess it can be sad or happy, depending on one's own interpretation. Anyway, thanks so much for your comment. Reading it was very rewarding. And yep... all our girls are gone.

Hey there, thanks for asking! No, I haven't made a transcription. On this song, I'm using a Guitar TAB sheet music as a guide and just filling in with different chord patterns. I purchased the Guitar TAB music at MusicNotes.com.

Thanks so much! And great idea to use it for a wedding. As someone who plays in weddings all the time, it never dawned on me that this would make a good wedding song! Ya know, I've actually been thinking about recording a studio version of this. When is your ceremony? I actually have a recording session coming up and could probably squeeze it in. (Sorry for the late reply here. I just got back from an extended vacation.)

@JohnBaumgardnerPianist7 ай бұрын
Okay, that timing of September 28 works out great. That gives me plenty of time to get into the studio, edit it, and send you a polished version. Feel free to email me at [email protected]. When it's ready, I'll email you an mp3.
@JohnBaumgardnerPianist7 ай бұрын
August 1 might be a little tight, but I'll have a better idea when I get my next recording session booked. I'll give you an update then. If the timing doesn't work out, I can always send you an mp3 download from the audio on the KZbin video. It won't be as perfect and polished as a studio version, but it still might work ok for you.

Beautiful rendition. Was looking for an instrumental piece of this song. Every version I listened to felt like something was missing though. It needed the melody of his words. What you've done is just perfect to make it feel like the song without the words. Thank you for an amazing and emotional listen to this ballad.
@JohnBaumgardnerPianist10 ай бұрын
That is so great to hear, because what you described (arrangements that don’t have the melody) is the exact reason I put this version together. Thanks for the generous words!

Just down the street from your hotel, baby I stay at home with my disease And ain't this position familiar, darling Well, all monkeys do what they see Help me stay awake, I'm falling... Down on Virginia and La Loma Where I got friends who'll care for me You got an attitude of everything I ever wanted I got an attitude of need Help me stay awake, I'm falling... Asleep in perfect blue buildings Beside the green apple sea Gonna get me a little oblivion Try to keep myself away from me It's 4:30 A.M. on a Tuesday It doesn't get much worse than this In beds in little rooms in buildings in the middle of these lives which are completely meaningless Help me stay awake, I'm falling... Asleep in perfect blue buildings Beside the green apple sea Gonna get me a little oblivion Try to keep myself away from myself and me I got bones beneath my skin, and mister... There's a skeleton in every man's house Beneath the dust and love and sweat that hangs on everybody There's a dead man trying to get out Please help me stay awake, I'm falling... Asleep in perfect blue buildings Beside the green apple sea Gonna get me a little oblivion baby Try to keep myself away from me

Please forgive me If I act a little strange For I know not what I do Feels like lightning Running through my veins Every time I look at you Every time I look at you Help me out here All my words are falling short And there's so much I want to say Want to tell you just how good it feels When you look at me that way, ah When you look at me that way Throw a stone And watch the ripples flow Moving out across the bay Like a stone I fall into your eyes Deep into that mystery, ah Deep into some mystery I got half a mind To scream out loud I got half a mind to die So I will never have to Lose you girl Won't ever have to say goodbye I won't ever have to lie Won't ever have to say goodbye Whoa I Whoa I Whoa I Please forgive me If I act a little strange For I know not what I do Feels like lightning Running through my veins Every time I look at you Every time I look at you Every time I look at you Every time I look at you

/ Lyrics A long December and there's reason to believe Maybe this year will be better than the last I can't remember the last thing that you said as you were leaving Now the days go by so fast And it's one more day up in the canyons And it's one more night in Hollywood If you think that I could be forgiven I wish you would The smell of hospitals in winter And the feeling that it's all a lot of oysters But no pearls All at once you look across a crowded room To see the way that light attaches to a girl And it's one more day up in the canyons And it's one more night in Hollywood If you think you might come to California I think you should Drove up to Hillside Manor sometime after two a.m. And talked a little while about the year I guess the winter makes you laugh a little slower Makes you talk a little lower about the things you could not show her And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe Maybe this year will be better than the last I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself To hold on to these moments as they pass And it's one more day up in the canyon And it's one more night in Hollywood It's been so long since I've seen the ocean I guess I should
