I remember this set going down like a lead balloon. A pure Breakbeat/jungle set from Brian Gee which is what he was known to play but nobody in Northern Ireland liked this style of music and I remember everyone just not into this set atoll especially when we got Colin Dale & producer playing wicked hardcore sets but this genre just didn’t go down well anywhere north of the midlands. Especially back in summer 93: hence the reason MC GQ is constantly saying make some noise and move your body as nobody was interested in this genre 🕊️🙌🕊️

This is when the producer was an absolute beast on the decks. Within a year or so he started playing that gabba nonsense that went from this great hardcore/acid Techno to gabba tracks at 180 bpm that was just impossible to mix and listen too let alone dance to it. During the period of 1992 to 94 he was up there with the very best Hardcore/Techno DJs. The sets he done At Universe Big Love & Mind Body & soul events were simply groundbreaking! That set in 92 At universe (mind body and soul) with DJ Tanith on the 2nd side of the official universe recording is something that everyone has to listen to. Absolutely incredible. 🕊️✌️🕊️

This is what you call a proper hardcore set from that period. No messing around here. Just full on classic”s from beginning to end. It’s a superb set & typical of what Carl was a master at doing at this period. Carl Cox at his awesome best. 🕊️✌️🕊️

Being kicked out....raving next to someone's car where music was playing....getting back in with Pablo killing it with some crowd favorites....and literally getting lifted off the floor as there was twice as many people in there after the bomb scare!!!

Nice to hear this now, even tho I detested breakbeat, jungle and drum & bass back then. My top 5 sets? Franco Zapalla (Hellraiser 6) Frank de Wulf (Vengeance 2) Pablo Gargano (Hellraiser 2) Colin Dale (Evolution) Joey Beltram (Hellraiser 8) Could pick any Gargano set due to his crowd-pleasing nature. Brilliant set at Hardcore. But few remember the fucking crazy acid mix he threw down in Hellraiser 2!

Joey Beltram & Colin Dale’s at Ulster Hall evolution with N’Joi on November 92 for me are so far ahead of its time and both the sets are incredible for that time. Awesome memories. 🕊️✌️🕊️

Hated this music back then. Used to head into the corridors for the craic any time a drum & bass dj came on. Couple of years later, heard one of Gachet's London sets - proper happy & dark - was hooked. Would love to back and do it again. Johnny!
