Any idea what a good lap time is for a stock AP2 s2000 at pacific raceways? I was doing 1:46ish on 280 treadwear tires

Solid time! I think with 200TW tires and otherwise stock car you could get into the low 1:40s. Maybe 1:42/1:43 with a proper fast lap. The key in these cars is nailing T2 - T6 as that's where the car shines, compared to the straight sections.

I just bought an S2k and am in FLL. Was wondering if you could recommend some track events suited for beginners? Doesn't need to be in Homestead, but I'm having trouble difficulty finding stuff out here.

My best advice is to change brake fluid and brake pads and get on track as soon as possible. I usually go out with Performance Driving Group, Chin Track Days, or NASA. Each of them have beginner groups and will paid you up with an instructor for your first day. I personally did a 3 day learning course out in California when I started tracking(I used to live out there). I would love to get out on track with you as well and help however I can! I am in Miami.

Quite a lot on the car. At the time of this vid engine was completely stock, except for the exhaust, baffled oil pan, and oil catch cans. It has full suspension component upgrades, long list, but Ohlins shocks, AP racing BBK are the big ones. If you’re interested in something specific let me know and I can go into more details with you. Multi hundred line excel file floating around somewhere with the full list.

@@gigi9467 Yep, the car has had this aero/wheel setup in all my videos! The most recent Chuckwalla and Homestead video have some engine tubing and a different suspension setup, but all videos prior to that are on the consistent build.

@@gibbsdrives haha thanks! Yesterday was so much fun with wet and dry track! I'm kinda a newbie, and the car and the tires often times surprise me. (I was like "oof I can actually go 10 miles faster around this corner.") ps4s was not bad in both conditions. Hope to see you more out there this season! 😎 I learned something new from your video. Nice driving! A couple things that stood out to me T1: You can carry more speed here, I think the car would've maybe felt more settled in 5th through 1? T2: Have you tried taking the corner in 4th instead of third? It seems like you're losing speed on exit because you're moving your hand over to the shifter to grab 4th since the car is about to hit the limiter in 3rd. At 0:25, you still have a ton of track on your right you can use. Try rolling on the throttle in 4th and using the full width of the track next time T4 : In your upshift here, I think you might be losing some speed in the uphill section into the bypass. I think the S2000 tops out at 78mph in 3rd on an AP2. I would try leaving the car in 3rd, and if you need to shift, do it on the entry to bypass since the car will then be less touchy on throttle on exit as the RPM will be lower. If you see at 0:39 there's about a car length gap on your right that you can use to push harder out of the corner Bypass: You can send it a lot harder over bypass with your aero + tire combination T6: I think you can avoid the downshift here, I know you want to keep the car in the powerband, but I think the downshift followed by immediate upshift is slowing the car down a bit. I should probably watch more s2000 videos to see if others are doing the same. T8: Great work here, but DAMN you gained a ton of ground on me there :P I need aero T9: I think you got off the clutch on your downshift too deep into the corner, that's why the car got a bit unsettled as you were going up the hill. T10: Similar to T9, at 1:25 I don't think you would've need that much counter steer, but it was induced by letting off the clutch into the corner. Overall, a VERY good lap. I think shifting less + getting off downshifts earlier will save you lots of time. A bit faster through T1, Bypass, and T9 and I see a high 58 in sights!
