Watching game one shows you to , test the entire meta many times over before going to a regional. That’s for any game. Not knowing how decks in the meta works, Or their cards, is highly disadvantageous to you.

Hey mate, Johan here. Yeah he popped the basil already with ice age then brook beforehand and since the ability is once per turn I couldn’t use Hawkins effect.

@@MrGhettowiz Hey yeah, interestingly enough it wasn't the hand I was dealt that made me change game plans. It was actually how he played game 2. The strat of starving with bonney doesn't work well if the opponent chooses not to swing. If you carefully watch game 2 Daniel has already figured this out and opts to not swing with his sanji which makes all the difference. Knowing that I couldn't use the same game plan I pivoted to playing normally to take him down. I find that the element of surprise and playing differently when the opportunity rises is very important

Great commentary video! As a bonnie player I'd say Johan is insanely good. I bet the reason why he chose to leave 2 don untaped in the first game is because he was swinging with low attacks just to incite Daniel to use counters. During the first turns in the starve strat, swinging with high number may be detrimental as your rival will simply let the weaker characters die, instead of trying to defend them. For example, Johan attacked Brook with 5k when he could have attacked with 6k (10:34 in the video), and Daniel defended that Brook, but later didn't have enough counter to defend the much more valuable Moria against a 9k swing. Also, being able to recognize if your hand is compatible with the starve strat or simply go for leader (like in the last game) is proof enough of Johan skill.

yea that’s not against the rules. ppl do it all the time edit: i should say it’s not *explicitly* against the rules. every rule is up for interpretation. including the rule that the deck must be “randomized”

@@senchousgarage sure, just a lot of ppl think that that is cheating so i just assumed you were saying that. it’s a pretty big debate rn of whether it’s legal and it’s a thing that is debated in all cars games of whether it’s legal if there’s no specific rule against it. i usually just pile shuffle. does the same thing and people won’t call you a cheater lol (well some do but fuck them)

i don't do personal tutorials or coaching or anything right now. i want to top 8 a tournament before i do any of that honestly. and i wouldnt say im a great nami player or anything right now, im still learning the deck myself. I do do VOD Reviews tho. If you send me videos of you playing on the Ranked Ladder Sim, I can commentate over it and maybe that will essentially be like coaching

Problem is, out of the 5 matches, the opponents chose to go 2nd so not really their fault. This deck just absolutely folds to Zoro though which I think is the main issue. If you run into a single zoro on a tournament run, you're run is pretty much over. Then again most decks this format have a deck that runs them over so getting lucky with matchups is a key factor to doing well prior to the new STs coming out.

going second 2don. 4don swing go to 5. turn 3 7don swing go to 8. turn 4 10 don. you can get to 10 don w no bon clay or katakuri assuming you can use lead every turn. with bon or kata or wb, you still curve out perfectly. not really sure why going 2nd hurts the deck but willing to be wrong

@@plasticbeachx3 the problem is when you are second and the oponent is super aggro, because they have "one more turn" to deploy characters, thats what i found with decks like animal zoro or blue doffy

@@leumas3256 depends what deck you’re on. i think generally, for every deck, you can play around the ramp by not swinging the turn after they activate their leader eff the first time. they flip two. you don’t swing. so kata kuri can only gain 1 don and they can’t use leader to go to 8 that turn. so they can’t 10 mom turn 4

@@leumas3256 I think going 1st can lead to falling really behind? If they ramp perfectly they can hit 2,4,8,10,10,10 and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. Even if you don’t swing into them, you can’t delay that ramp. And then you’d be 1,3,5,7,9,10. They’d essentially get (2) 10 Don turns before you get your first. I’d say second and then don’t swing so they can’t ramp with Katakuri is best

46:23 wouldn´t it be better to drop 10c ace there and swung 1 more time? Sure, he likelly had the counter, or, would block, but you would still chip away at him. It would heal you the same way 10C big mom would and pile some more agression on the opponent while saving 10c big mom in case he would try a desperate heal with leader ability in case he couldn´t finish you off on the clap back. But given the scenario you were by the end, the final attack distribution didn´t need to be so many 13k either, you could go for normal attacks with no don 4 times and buffed up the last 2. With 2 cards in hand, assuming both counters, he would have to either counter or block the first 12 from big mom, then the same for the next 12, then the same for the 2 9ks (he was at 9k), so on those 4 attacks you already took away his 3 blockers and at least 1 counter (or 2 counters and 2 blockers, but nevertheless, he was still done) and you would still have 2 more atacks that can be buffed by 5k each, resulting in 10k + 12k, or, if no more blockers, just 17k on newgate and gg.

43:48 Could you have put a flampe on top of their life to stop then from using their leader ability or pulling a Luffy with a little brother? Sure it doesn't help with the board but wouldn't that put a wrench in his plans?

Not really, 5c luffy would use his ability, pull flampe out of there, draw a card and get extra 2k attack to smack you in the face on his turn. That luffy is one of the ways that B/Y luffy deck has to shorten his life in case the opponent decides to stall and set up a field.
