I take mine out solo quite often under sail for camping. It works quite well. It is a great help having the sail to keep that big boat moving. It took awhile to figure out to place the second mirage drive in and lock it so fins are down. It acts as another keel closer to the mast. Having the sail so close to the bow makes it hard to keep a straight course. Adding the second mirage drive is the answer to that problem. From experience, it takes a lot to flip one of these. Have fun all.

Thanks for posting, Very interesting to watch especially to see how well Hobie PA17T kayak handle wind and chops of the bay weather.

How is this setup working out? Did you change anything from the video? I just picked up a 17T and sail kit and am trying to figure this out as well.

Sorry all, I don't monitor this closely enough... The 17t handles the bay quite well. 15 kts with 3 foot waves is about the most I'll take it out on. I don't like it parallel to the waves much though. I start to worry about capsizing so I time my turns accordingly. With two people it turns quickly. I found my hull turns to starboard faster than port so I stick with that. I added a small Harken block to the H-bar and a cam-cleat next to my seat (I only lock it in in lower speed winds where capsizing is not a concern). I sail a Hobie 16 with my wife and a 14 turbo solo so I know a little about operating the sail and points of sail (definitely worth reading up on if you are unfamiliar). The yak sail is not something that will propel you through the water, rather, it will stop you from having to fight the wind. On a run (point of sail in the same direction as the wind) it will move you just enough to steer if you are not pedaling. Upwind, if one stays out of the no-sail-zone, it will add to your forward motion just a little more than the wind pushing against you takes from you. I like too take the yak out and troll for striper. I have a downrigger on each side with 8 lb weights to help with that. In heavier winds I put only the windward downrigger in as it helps to balance. I tend to sit more to one side of the yak as well for the same reason. Keeping the sheet (line attached to the sail) in hand allows you to dump the wind quickly if need be.

I super enjoyed your video. I have never seen a view point of Bayfront Park from a drone ' s "eye" before. Remarkably beautiful with all of that ice. I have been here and have seen the drone and gave heard that familiar buzzing sound. Thank you and please post more like this.

No Last Kiss at the show I saw, www.setlist.fm/setlist/pearl-jam/2013/1st-mariner-arena-baltimore-md-2bc75c2a.html . But that does not mean they won't play it elsewhere.

Awesome! Thanks for uploading and sharing. I was sitting so far away from the stage that I wouldn't have been able to get a decent pic or video. The vids that others have uploaded are all I'll have to remember that night :( Thanks again!
