12/24 I agree. But to make the video better you need a counter....not just..it doesnt work.I suggest a hard downward inner or outter chopping block with a sidestep. if you go outward then you can use the aikido moves, inward and take a kidney shot while youraise your arm and elbow or straight arm the throat or head. I enjoy your vidios and explainations because I agree most of the attacks are invalid Jude Cleveland

Ok, I first want to say, this move seems very effective. Next, I should make it clear that I have never taken martial arts due a neck injury. With that being said, is it possible to use this technique for self defense, or is this something that is used in combination with something else. There are a lot of knuckleheads out there these days. And something like this technique would serve me well, instead of fumbling for a weapon of some sort. This is more immediate, and you have time to get away as they contemplate their future laying on the ground. Thanks

I've never seen anybody verbally bashing another in Aikido? I know i haven't seen any of it on this particular KZbin channel? After watching Rok*ss stuff. Uts pretty self evident what he saying- i e You cannot us any form of Aikido for real life self defense. Which is a blatant bold-faced lie. Lenny you may very well consider Rok*ss as your friend. I'm here to say- friends do not call what other friends do as "gimmicky & nonsense"... If someone thinks they can still be your friend - after calling what you do gimmicky & nonsense based. That's not a very good friend. It fact i might go so far to say- Thats not a friend- full stop- PERIOD! Because they're not only putting efforts in discrediting what you working your*ss off producing.. Buf they're also discrediting everyone who's spreading a good word about your channel- as a bunch of foolish charlatans... So, if you don't mind us critiquing your stuff.. Then hopefully you'll understand why we're critiquing Rok*ss as well. I had an Aikido instructor named Paul Sulvain... Who was a 6th Dan in Aikido.. Who very similar to you Lenny- was fearless in practicing & training his craft. I watched him submit a high level kick boxer in mire seconds. Watched him do something similar with a college championship wrestler.. Who had to weigh at least 50 pounds more then Paul.. Well just before Paul was going fo give this big presentation of Aikido in front of a major martial arts gathering- somewhere out in Boston Mass. Him & his daughter died in a horrible car wreck. Sometime after information started to gather that maybe the car wreck Paul and his daughter were in may not actually have in as accidental as everyone original thought... For at that Boston Martial arts meetup.. Someone reported said someone false misinformation about the Aikido practice... How convenient that Paul was no longer around to defend against that misinformation. My point is Rok*ss had said something that sounded very similar to what the organizers were saying at that Boston Martial arts meetup- about discrediting Aikido as a legitmate martial arts practice. So, when i first Heard what Rok*ss had to say- Red flags jumped out at me!! The kind of red flags th at say this guy is not what he claims to be. And I'll leave it at that.

Awesome! I come from a traditional martial arts system. I’m a black belt in Shotokan Karate and yes we are taught to do a up block in this situation, which if it’s not a perfect block against a strong tough guy then it’s not gonna work. Your jamming technique is great and more realistic. Thanks Lenny!

Aikido is mostly defensive art and sometimes it works. But man... You need 3 things ASAP. Woman, drink and relax. Aikido is also about self control. Where is your self control samurai?

Aikido is meant to be used holding a weapon. That’s why there are so much focus on the grab
@ronin21672 ай бұрын
He hasn't evolved passed, dojo techniques to RW techniques. Dojo is theoretical and does have application, but you have to test it's limits. You have to control ma'ai. He's ignoring it altogether and walking around inside it. You can only negate punches by being outside of range, or inside so much that it negates the effectiveness of the punch. This is why I think Aikido is a standing grappling art and should be taught that way. The days of pretty dancing are long gone. Practice safe, but practice realistically.

Lenny you know what pisses me off about aikido? I'm a relative beginner and those stupid skirts that instructors wear are so bloody confusing the only people who attack you in skirts on the street are women! Ok so its not a skirt they are baggy trousers, but i tis very difficult for beginners to see what position the feet are in the techniques. I practise 4 marshal arts and aikido is the only one which confuses you with those bloody things.
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS133 ай бұрын
I get it. But that skirt is part of the tradition of aikido. Since aikido is a part of the samurai arts and that’s what they wore back then. Also the skirt is supposed to hide the footwork so the enemy can’t see how your moving. I know yeah no one is going to attack you wearing a skirt, but unfortunately it’s a part of the tradition Stan.
@stanleyjohnson32193 ай бұрын
@@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS13 hello Lenny great that you replied and yes of course it’s tradition but therein lies the problem for beginners like I have to ask continually to my instructor “What are your feet doing I can’t see what position to put my feet in and did you move foreword and which foot it makes it very hard for me as I am 77 years old and continually put the wrong foot foreword.” Having said that your aikido real world techniques are fantastic, love the videos you put out!

In Karate the hand strike is called toho and the front stance is called senkutsu dachi. The technique is too dangerous to practice with another person, I'd better use my grappling dummy.

Unrelated. Just want to mention that the top (walls) in black, and the floor being a light color, contrasts very well with the white gi on top and the black hakama on the bottom so when watching the video it’s easier to appreciate where the different body parts are in regards to the techniques being applied. In all-white dojos (white floor & white walls) when watching videos, it is easier to miss something. That’s all. Plan to watch the rest of your videos. Thanks much.
@danmcgladdery18133 ай бұрын
Fucking brilliant. I would love to train with you one day. I’m a fast learner and I practice Karate every day. I watched your videos a few years back and I’ve digested many of these shockingly good techniques, and can honestly say that I’m a better fighter now. I think Karate and Aikido go hand in hand and is a very formidable mixture.

Many "real fights" involve a pre-fight confrontation. In reality people get mad and they shove and grab and point their finger in your face, etc... Seen it 1000 times. Grapplers train to grab people all the time AKA "give you their hands"....think about it for more than 30 seconds.

I don't want watch 40 minutes of blablabla. Show me some sparring. Put headgear on and let opponent use soft gloves. I want to know if you are capable of grabbing and directing any punches. Do it against non aikidoka.

In traditional Japanese martial arts you don't ask questions and the teacher doesn't give explanations. You learn by mimicking. Unfortunately, you don't really learn the intricacies of the art.
