It is easier and way cheaper to develop and produce electric vehicle than an ICE vehicle (no exhaust, fuel delivery and control emissions, simple electric motor replaces complicated gas engine, safety and comfort systems are same in both), the only culprit was and still is the expense of producing sufficiently strong BATTERY. Once the batteries are sufficiently developed which will take another 5 to 10 years, most of us won't even want to look at ICE cars because they will be more expensive to produce, buy and maintain than electrics. Watch the development of solid state batteries to see when that inflection point will happen.
