Grab 2-3 creatures that work like Relentless Rats/Seven Dwarves/Partitioners, do 10-25 copies of each. Then grab like 50-100 artifacts and about 50 spells of each color. Maybe through in some one off bomb creatures/planeswalkers. Add about 50-100 land. Boom. First easy cube is done.

Thank you for the clear explanation. I have an Abdel Adrian commander deck that takes advantage of these infinite ETB loops to generate a lot of value with my own permanents - Abdel is a bit like Parallax Wave but limited to my own permanents. I will definitely be adding Parallax Wave to the deck now!
@doktarr2 жыл бұрын
There's actually a few ways I can pull this off in that deck: 1) as shown in the video, but Abdel Adrian also works in place of the LRW and Detention Sphere also works in place of OR 2) Parallax Wave exiles either Abdel Adrian, or one of Fiend Hunter/Glorious Protector/Phantom Steed/Wormfang Drake, which had exiled either Abdel Adrian or LRW.

Sadly I didn't find your tutorial, when I was learning to build cubes around 2 years ago. For the most part it is a great starting point, although I do want to add a small thing and a big thing I'm missing. You went pretty fast over the multicoolor numbers and I think it inclines new cubers to include more multicolors than standard MTGO cubes, which is a trap in my opinion, since these cubes already run many multicolor cards. That being said this is also an aspect of design philosophy, but touches my bigger critique: You don't explain how to balance Colors, Guilds and the whole Cube, which is too big of a topic itself for this video. I think your Guild spell books are also misleading in that context, since I would call it best practice looking at these and looking at the colors individually for Creature/non Creature ratios, curve and so on. Still thank you for your efforts.

Oh man this is great. I'm just getting back into mtg after, well, awhile, and one failed comeback lol. I'm only started drafting in the last 6 months and I love it. I then started reading about Cube and it sounds like it's up my alley. I have a few thousand cards (some good some chaff because I love cracking packs lol), so using a guideline/skeleton like this will help me build something and potentially be able to leverage some of my collection that might never get play otherwise.

Hi! a question for anyone who can answer me: I was thinking of making a cube but I would like some other "theme" for red and blue that isn't the classic spellslinger archetype....I dunno if it's even possible but....any ideas? I tried to look online but most cubes just prefer the basic Izzet idea for blue/red...
@mtgcubetube2 жыл бұрын
I'm too sick to do this myself now, but I advise going to edhrec and see what themes Izzet commander decks use. Taking turns, draw 7s, Polymorph combos are maybe difficult, but I'm sure there's hidden options that could work. Wizard tribal maybe, cycling, drawing extra cards (the Eldraine mechanic), ..

@@JoshLavin I do have a list! I tried posting the link when you first asked, but I think the KZbin bots kept removing the comment (presumably for containing a link), because it repeatedly disappeared. But then just last week I realized that I can share it this way: It's on Cube Cobra and the cube ID is the-ledge. That should be enough information to find it. Sorry again it took so long to get back to you but I didn't know how to keep the comment from disappearing until now. If you do look at it, I'd certainly appreciate all the feedback you feel inclined to give, since it's still new (I just got a playgroup to start playing it this week, so I have not had a chance to incorporate real play test feedback).

I’m about to make my first cube, a peasant cube (since signpost uncommons are extremely cool to me and without them I’d feel weird in a draft environment), and this series is an awesome help. It makes me feel like I have experience under my belt already, and the template here was what I was going for. I know the group I’ll be playing with and building for are really into a lot of the 2 color pairs as opposed to 3 color or mono. Thanks for putting in all this work!

Question: Can't you only remove one fading counter per upkeep and thereby only exile one creature per upkeep? The example giving in 5:09 dosent seems possible to me - or is it an activated ability to "remove a fade counter to exile"?

Summary: Magic is really hard to balance around player experience and skill levels. Higher XP groups will enjoy broke ass combos more. Lower XP groups will prefer learning about simple synergies.

Worth noting you can do the same loop replacing oblivion ring with fiend hunter, though you have to switch what targets what (relic-warder on pwave, fiend hunter on relic-warder, and pwave on fiend hunter). I wish they'd stop printing fiend hunter effects that can't hit your own things so that the combo could have a few more pieces of modularity, though you do still always need relic-warder and parallax wave.
@foffingCh.3 жыл бұрын
I’d love to include a bunch of combos, but my pod is A: only five people, making the odds of getting pieces drop unless they’re seeded in somehow, and B: has two people that are definitely not as knowledgeable about that sort of thing and one probably wouldn’t be incredibly interested in learning them for future reference
@foffingCh.3 жыл бұрын
Oh my god, I knew about all of the separate triggers nonsense, but I didn’t realize till this video that parallax wave’s exile was an activated ability, I totally misread it and thought you were only allowed to exile one card per turn in the upkeep when a fading counter gets removed. I now can clearly see why this card is so drooled over
