I don't think it's true that most native speakers pronounce it like that. Maybe some, but I normally hear it with both "th" and "z". But if you are learning English and find it difficult, "cloze" is much better than "cloth-iz".

​@@ImproveYourAccent It differs from one place to Another. Brits, Americans, Aussies, etc all have their own way to pronounce. You can't say one is more "correct" than the others? And I'm not even mentioning most of the L2 and L3 Language english speaking people from countries like India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Continental Europe, parts of Africa, etc who have their own accents and pronunciations.

The name is indeed neither Van Go, nor Van Gof. The pronunciation is similar to the scottish word loch like in Loch Ness. [ˈvɪnsɛnt vɑŋ ˈɣɔx]
