You have to give teams a reason to play for bowl games because If I’m a top 5 team Why would I want to go to a bowl game and risk me getting kicked out of the top 5

They originally said the P5 conference champs and the highest ranked G5 champ (or maybe top 6 conference champs), but cause the pac 12 is barely a conference anymore, it's down to the top 5 conference champs. So Liberty still would've been in

BCS had a lot of flaws. There was a reason why they got rid of it. And once you lose one game your championship hopes are over. At least with this system you can earn your way in instead of letting a computer decide. I do think having a biased committee is also very flawed, but no one can complain about being left out anymore because you could’ve earned your way in.

BCS was flawed but it produced the greatest game of all time. The 2006 Rose Bowl will forever be not just the greatest football game ever but the greatest game ever.

@@kevinfetters3647 as a fan of one of the fans of these SEC "complainers", I didn't want this at all. I will maintain SC was one of the 12 best teams in the regular season, but this format that is "supposed to give us a chance" is terrible. If winning a national championship is a successful season, then I guess fans of 133/134 teams get to be sad every year. Acting like all 134 teams are in remotely the same playing field is delusion. Realistically give me a season where we beat, Clemson, Tennessee, Georgia, Mizzou, or A&M, pull off a huge upset, make and win a good bowl game, and I'll be fine. Of the P4 teams there's like 20 with the resources to compete for national championships every year, and I can admit SC isn't touching that tier of programs

Even if was BCS or 4 team playoffyou’re still not getting a NY6 great bowl game . This may theoretically spread out talent to teams in that top 20 because before if you wanted to compete for a natty it had to be like 6 schools now you can choose somewhere like Indiana and have a chance

@@griffingarnaat9261 I could give a list of reasons why I hate it, even though this is a really long comment (sorry for it), I could still go on and rant even longer if you'd like 😂 College football has not been about crowning a national championship and that trying to do so is harmful to the sport. Marketing that as the goal for 134 teams is a complete sham, cause we know only P4 teams and ND have a shot, then few teams have the resources to pay for the top coaches or talent and develop them. Cause of how the sport of football works, the point of the CFP is to crown a national champion. I don't see it as a way to create Cinderella runs or fun storylines like in March Madness cause we aren't gonna get a G5 team beat multiple P4 powerhouses to even make the national title. A shooting guard from Long Beach State can make shots that some guy from Duke will miss, but no one from Memphis, one of the best run G5 programs, can out-athlete Georgia. Even if they can overcome that disadvantage once, can they do it to Oregon? Ohio State? And even if Memphis did have an athlete of that caliber, they'd probably get snatched in the portal to go to at least a mid tier P4 team. For me, college football is about rivalries, tradition, big upsets, the pageantry, and the pride. For SC, if you ask me if I'd trade that November they had for a playoff spot, I say no. Beating A&M by 24 on our blackout night, Rocket scoring to win the Mayor's cup vs Mizzou and causing an earthquake, then Sellers winning it against Clemson, it was magical. I think the more decisions that are made to make the playoffs look even greater, the less emphasis is put on magical regular season moments that build the sport. The grander the stage the CFP is put on, it makes everything else feel meaningless. Meaningless bowl games and meaningless November games were not phrases used in 2011. You'd have a hard time convincing me the upsets in 2022 vs UT and Clemson in back to back weeks were meaningless since a title wasn't on the line for SC. If Auburn is 4-7, Jordan Hare will still be packed for the Iron Bowl. Mississippi State will still show out for the Egg Bowl. We don't need a championship on the line to care for our team, we always will
