Shouldn't you set the crossover at the off position instead of high pass with type R components? They are full range are they not?
@cockneyzombie
@cockneyzombie 2 жыл бұрын
Alpine type r components have a frequency response of 65 hz - 29 khz so we need to cut frequencies below 65 hz. I would set the high pass filter to 80 hz to stop the components playing the lower frequencies they can't handle but If using a sub in the system i cut the components off at 100 hz and have the sub play up to 80 hz. Do a KZbin search for high pass filters to get more info, car audio fabrication is a good channel for this type of stuff. Hope this helps.

Was looking at buying one this was was just the sort of review I wanted of it, pretty inclusive kit. The wire doesn't looked tinned to prevent oxidation is the like the one and only downside to this product but I guess if you terminate it properly and throw some good heat shrink and wire ferrules on the non terminated ends you'd probably be right. Thanks again.

Great stuf! How many sheets did you use for the door?
@cockneyzombie
@cockneyzombie 4 жыл бұрын
Hi I think it was around three sheets to cover the inner skin and the void. You need to push the material into the void a bit to accommodate the pocket of the door card when it goes back on. As for the outer skin I reached through and put it where I could. I also put some on the door card. Check out my video Car audio build Vauxhall corsa progress update. This shows the door. Good luck with yours.

I have a pdx m6 and RF Punch P2 d4-12 (400 RMS). What is the gain adjustment?
@cockneyzombie
@cockneyzombie 7 жыл бұрын
Hi I had my gain set to about the 10 o'clock position with the input sensitivity switch set to the 0.1-1.0 position due to low head unit signal voltage. Your setting may be totally different due to your head units output voltage as they range from 2 voltes to 4 voltes check your manual for that. There are lots of voideos on KZbin on how to set amp gains but if you are unsure I would recommend taking your car to a car audio shop to get it set correctly to protect your equipment from damage. Hope this helps.

Do you still have the F4? If so, how is it? I'm torn between the F4 and Rockford fosgate p400x4 with C.L.E.A.N. tech built into it. The only reason me wanting the alpine f4 is because I'm running two front 4 ohm speakers and 2 ohm speakers in the rear.

K Vang I sold the car with the system still in it two years ago. I missed it so bad I've just got another car and I'm trying to decided what amps to get myself. The Alpine F4 is great I loved it the 100 watts RMS x4 was more than enough for my two sets of type R components. Previously i had the pdx 5 and the 75 watts RMS it provided the type R's was clear but underwhelming. I think the F4 would be good for your application.

@cockneyzombie 2 жыл бұрын
@@realityregulators498 Hi if your sub is a 1242 or 1243 model you can use the pdx 1.1000 just go easy on it as you are over powering it by 400 watts.

Cockneyzombie Yeah, what I was kinda thinking too. Perhaps adjust my gain lower then usual thus preventing in my coil getting cooked prematurely. Lol I also got two 10" first gen 4ohm DVC Type R's that are 300watt each so 600watt all together which the PDX 1.1000 was originally powering. Being the same as this 3rd gen 12" 4ohm DVC Type R's ratings. What are your thoughts on that and any recommendations as to amp adjustments?
@cockneyzombie
@cockneyzombie 2 жыл бұрын
@@realityregulators498 yes the two tens would be the same. You could use a multimeter to set the gain at 600 watts. Look up videos on setting gains with multimeter. Best tool to set gain would be smd dd1 but not cheap.

Karen Grewal the PDX F4 is a great amp. Like most amps it has thermal protection if it gets too hot. The power decreases is on output. If your car can't produced enough power the amp will reduce output to stop it producing a clipped signal (distortion) this protects the speakers from damage. My amps never overheated once. I never noticed a power output drop once either due to the PDX amps being so efficient.

Mine get a bit hot too. I don't think being under the seat is a problem. Its got a bit of room for the heat to escape. What could be a problem is if you have a heater vent under the seat for the rear passengers feet. The other thing is the power cable for the amp, it should be 4 gauge or better. Thin cable like 8gauge on an amp like that will cause resistance. If both these check out ok don't worry. If the amp gets too hot it will shut off until it cools down. If this happens get it checked out.

Use two sets of rca leads from the head units front and rear outputs to the amps inputs. No splitters needed.
@cockneyzombie
@cockneyzombie 11 жыл бұрын
Ok so it's the pdx 4.150. If you are going to use two sets of full range speakers run two sets of rca leads. If you are going to bridge the amp to run two subs you can use the splitter rca leads but I would not run subs off this amp as it is a great amp for your front stage. I would recommend a set of alpine spr-60c for the front and a set of alpine spr-60 for the rear. set the crossovers to hi pass, around 80 to 100hz. Go easy on the gain control its a powerful amp. Should sound sweet.

Yes you should run two sets of rca leads from the rear of the head unit to the back of the amp. If your head unit has enough rca pre out's. If not you can use rca splitters but this will half the output voltage and you will have no front rear adjustment.
