But what do you actually do it seems like a nice job
@KirstenNicole2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I worked in a hospital setting and helped OTs and PTs with patient care (mobilizing patients, preparing equipment, or pushing IV poles), helped set up equipment, cleaned the therapy gym, and was available to float to the outpatient unit as needed. I know job tasks may vary based on whether the PT/OT aide works in the hospital or in the outpatient setting, depending on that facility’s needs. I really enjoyed it!

I know this video is a few years old but I wanted to tell you how nice the color looks on you. It really looks very natural. I really don't think we need to spend a lot of money on these self tanners. As long as you keep applying moisturizer throughout the week it will last even longer. Thank you for your review.
The L'Oreal is great without streaking or transferring, I wear overnight. Only problem is it gives me a rash on my chest

That’s so exciting! We found a place that allows us to rent month to month on a site called Furnished Finder. We also looked at Airbnb but couldn’t find much available for the area. Hope this helps :)

Hello! Here is a link with information about the excursion: www.cancun-adventure.com/en/tour/isla-mujeres-luxury-sailing We did not book through this site as we booked it once we got to our resort, but I thought it had lots of helpful information about the experience! I hope you all have fun on your trip! :)

Thanks for answering my question! Lots of helpful ideas. I am a full-time working COTA, and the MOT program I in is also full-time. It’s an accelerated bridge program, and I am typically taking 5-6 classes every semester (10 weeks). Needless to say work/school/life is not balanced. I work during the day and study at night, and then weekends are on campus. It’s intense, but will be worth it. I like the scheduling every hour idea. I have found OT podcasts to be a helpful tool, are there any you recommend? Also, any APA referencing tips?
@KirstenNicole2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it definitely sounds like an intense schedule with school, work, and life! All the hard work you are putting in right now will be so rewarding and worth it! I do not know of any OT podcasts just yet, but if you have any recommendations, please let me know :) For APA, our class uses the APA manual (7th edition), and it has been extremely helpful!

Hi Kirsten! I have really enjoyed watching your videos so far. I recently got accepted to Creighton's OTD program! and I would love to know what your experience has been so far and maybe some tips to prepare heading into a doctoral program! Thanks!
@KirstenNicole2 жыл бұрын
Hi Olivia! First off, congrats on your acceptance to Creighton's OTD program! How exciting ✨ I have really enjoyed Creighton's program and feel like I am learning SO much from amazing professors! I feel like the program does a great job helping students transition into the program. As you prepare for the program, you could start buying school supplies (laptop/ipad, notebooks, pens, etc.) and start connecting with future classmates! (For the supplies, only buy what you feel like you need/will use- you can always buy supplies when the program begins if you're not sure at the moment what you will need.) Other ideas are to start thinking about study habits you want to form and what types of studying help you learn best! If you ever want to reach out with questions, my IG handle is @kirstenlorts :)

I am a COTA currently in MOT school, I’m in my second semester - so I would LOVE more videos about things that have helped you throughout school. What resources do you use? What are some studying tips? Etc. I’ve been a COTA for 10 years, and adjusting back to school while working full-time has been tough.
@KirstenNicole2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sarah, those are great questions! Working during OT school is not easy, but keep up the good work! I would definitely be happy to make more videos to chat in depth about study tips and helpful resources. One of my main tips is to schedule out your day/week (sometimes I will even break it down by hour if my day is super busy). I found that helps keep me accountable and know what is next to complete. Some of my classmates have found using quizlet or rewriting notes to be helpful for studying. Depending on the class, I will typically type out study guides and then talk through them and my notes with my lab partner (explain the content, ask questions, read the textbook, etc.). This has been the most helpful for me, but I know everyone’s studying habits/styles are different! Let me know if you have any other questions, and I will expand on these topics in a future KZbin video 😊

I'm applying to OT school right now and I'm getting so excited because of your videos! Can you talk about acute care and what they teach you about it in your program if they have taught about that yet? It sounds like an interesting setting but I don't know much about it yet so I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!
@KirstenNicole2 жыл бұрын
Yay that’s so exciting! Best of luck to you in the application process! 😊 In our program, we have learned about acute care throughout several of our classes. We have learned so many details about the acute care setting such as what evaluation, intervention, and documentation would look like. I have worked in acute care before as a rehab tech and had one of my fieldworks there in OT school, and I loved both experiences! It is a fast-paced environment where you get to work mainly on basic ADLs with patients and get to see a variety of diagnoses. Let me know if you have any more questions, and thanks for your comment!!
