Hi again. So much that you have mentioned makes soooo much sense to me. I'm really trying not to build myself up for the benefits of medication because I know it's not a fix all. The best part about diving deep into ADHD is you realise that a LOT of people have a very similar experience in life. Which is weird when you think it's only you all your life. You've touched on it at times but you don't go into it too much which I completely understand, but I just know exactly what you're about to say when you talk about how hard it's been. This year has been the best and worst of my life. That part in the last video where you mentioned that now you feel you're actually living, rather than just thinking about what you could do, I can't wait for that tbh. I've been blown away at how aware the whole community is about themselves - especially tik tok. In terms of content, I guess I'd love to hear how you handle the transition, which you touched on. How to handle your individual way of doing things pre and post medication. I'm starting a new job soon with a lot of responsibility and although I tried to make no big life changes until I started treatment it just kinda happened. I'll basically be starting a job unmedicated and then 2 weeks in I'll start concerta xl. It's going to be fun 😂😭. Btw what's supply like now? Is it still as bad as it was?
@CatherineAllanADHDME2 ай бұрын
@slartybobfoster this all resonates so much. Sometimes life is just about finding your people! This means different things to different people, but universally it’s people who accept others for who they are and lift you up because they see all the good in you! Yesss that’s a great topic! I’ll note that down, the journey of hard to actually living. Us ADHDers are the most self aware people out there, we have to be because we know we are different.. but in the best way! Great topic suggestions, I’m excited to get chatting. One thing I will say is to either let your boss know you might be a bit weird or to be honest, work from home if you can. If not I’d take at least the first day off. I haven’t had any issues with the supply of Medikinet but I know Concerta has constant issues.
@slartybobfoster22732 ай бұрын
@@CatherineAllanADHDME yeah I read that ADHD types have high meta-cognition levels. Nah I'm too scared to mention anything ADHD related to my boss 🤣 I don't care though, I'm overqualified AF and I get a certain degree of freedom with my job (by my ADHD design).

The difference between long and short releases is that the long release .pi. ll. s. are highly engineered with micro-cavities to release the active-agent over time in the intestine. They can be of any dosage from 18mg to the higher do. se. s. I don't really know what you mean with the percentages
@markmuller79623 ай бұрын
Alright it worked here
@CatherineAllanADHDME3 ай бұрын
@@markmuller7962 all I know is that the long release means it’s released over a longer period of time, thus causing a more prolonged ‘peak’ effect of the medicine. The tablets I was on here are a mixture of short and long acting to enable a good level of drug in my system over a period of time that worked for me.

Hey Cat Happened upon your meds journey vlogs. I was diagnosed in Nov last year after being undiagnosed for 60 yrs 🙈. Ive known pretty much all my life someghing wasnt quite right although i couldnt say exactly what ut was. All the finger pointing , name calling shame etc failed relationships yada yada. Its been interesting watching you go throught the ups and downs with the meds . They told me in Nov id have to wait about 7mnths due tk the shortages . So what im feeling now is alot of apprehension as opposed to having the meds straightaway so to speak. Ive been hyperfocussing on all the meds and their side effects and ha e been getfing myself in a state over them. Seeing you talk about yours triggers me , as i detest taking any medications due to past historionics with various meds such as pain meds etc so have always sought the natural route. Ive struggled moreso since c0nv1d with social anxiety and stress which seeing as i work for myself as a plumber that comws with its own stressors. Id get worked up about goung to do a small job which ive done thousands of times and it feels like im an apprentice on my 1st ever job. My HR wohld go through the roof and id make every excuae to myself not to fo to work. Id procrastinate over soo many things and id internalise eveeything over and over and id step away from doing things . Id need some milk for breakfast and bread for lunch and id go without for weeks even though it would take me 10mins to fo to the shop and get some. Seeing you experience alot of the side effects nausea headaches heart palps and overwhelm concerns me as i am suoer sensotive to meds . I feel i owe it to myself to at least try the meds to see what uts like to be a neurotypical. Im aware tbat the meds dont stop everything & my psychiatrist said meds only help about 25% and the rest is learning strategies. Being an empath as well i could feel all what you were experiencing expecially when you were all emotional & upset in the car. Ive heard the meds cause food supression and weight loss bit also anxiety . Ive run through every possible scenario of me taking the meds and how id actually feel before i took the 1st ones. I think similar to you about expecting tbat aha moment and that whoosh tk get up out of bed and get things done !! Thats was about 40yrs ago for me 😂 What has your sleep been ljke as im told the meds affect sleep quite bad? I find i have an elevated heart rate qhite alot due to stress and worry & hearing the meds cause that to rise concerns me as i dont wish to be on meds fkr that either! Im based in brighton and as an exercise i rang a couple of pharmacies to check out supply stocks of meds. One wasnf very helpful the ither was brilliant and told me they have reasonable stocks whixh is reassuring as much like you i dont wish to change meds during my trial as you mentjoned. Although im quite tech savvy the rhought of doung a vlog like you on here is very brave . So well done you 😊 Id like to do one myself but detest seeinv myself in the mirror let alone online for everyone to see. Id like tk do some vlogs to help older people like me whove been diagnised late in life. The other thing i come across alot on youtube is all those who do the videos etc about adhd all seem to work from home or in an office ! As i mentioned above i work as a plumber and that comes with its own set of rules ao doesnt fit into the IT sector of adhders as i call them. There are liads of us who work outside of an office environment that all the vloggers seem to think were based in an iffice and plough through lots of assignmnets emails etc. My job is aoo fat removed from that ao i can be stuck under a bath one moment and the next fixing a boiler jobs you cant step away from soo to speak you cant juat pull down the laptop lid . The benefit i guess is that every job is different and thats where the hyoerfocus comes in and probkem solving fiving me dopamine. But by the time i come home im burnt out and iver stimulated so can take the whole evening to decompress. Apologies i was in the zone there !! Anyways thanks for the honesty in your content , how does it affect your relationship dynamic with your bf im assuming hes a neuro typical! Keep the content coming as youre really good at explaining how yiyre feeling. Id be awful as im always struggling to find the right words to explain how im feeling to people who ask . Its like i get tongue tied and it all sounds gobbledegook and around the houses . Thanks for reading yhis post 😊
