Absolutely hate the interior. Cold, cut-up and soulless.

The showers are a terrible design. In order to use the shower, one must enter and get all wet with cold water to turn it on. One can't reach in from the side, adjust things and pause until the water is nice and warm. Do architects not bathe? Do they not use a shower? The room on the top, rear tier is typically called a "folly."
@kevho941142 ай бұрын
In newer home designs they now have the taps closer to the entry to avoid that precise issue.
@MacAdvisor2 ай бұрын
@@kevho94114 In the house reviewed here, I didn't see how one could turn on and adjust the water without getting wet. The taps are at the far end of the showers from the entrance. I think you for you reply.

Yep. It looks like it was remodeled in 2007. Overdesigned chaotic spaces, disconnected flow, featureless rooms, frosted green glass walls and floors, overscaled open stairs gallery for some reason and MORE open stairs. "The most comfortable room in the house" at the end feels cold, claustrophobic and completely uncomfortable. Maybe that's why it wasn't shown. How can a house be so open and every room feel so confining and oppressive at the same time? What could have been a great room in the front with the 4 windows was destroyed by cramming two bedrooms in there. There is no place to rest. Even the back courtyard is chaotic with the giant switchback stairs/bridge looming overhead. Selling point as a converted firehouse but that was obliterated a long time ago. The facade is all the firehouse that's left. @Jonathan-k7t said it. This house is exhausting.

This is a tough one I’d agree; the ones at 8 and 10 Carmel were the fun version of this. Plus it wasn’t the best weather. There was a bit of the staircases in Harry Potter too. Thanks for watching.

You are critiquing DESIGN decisions, your prerogative. These older structures, however, HAVE TO BE MODERNIZED with newer materials to pass fire codes, building codes and to be able to provide modern amenities to the homeowner.
@ericwadebrown2 ай бұрын
Kinda a shame the interior was modernized. It would be amazing if it had that same historical look on the inside..
@sueprator93142 ай бұрын
Oh stop. Homes that were originally built at the turn of the Century (late 1800s-1920s ish) HAVE to be updated/upgraded with modern materials to meet fire codes, building codes,etc. I was a licensed appraiser in SF and also a native SFer. Fantasizing about some "historical look" not only is not realistic, it doesn't sell. PEOPLE WANT THE MODERN WITH THE OLD ARCHITECTURE. I was appraising Victorians in SF when this started in the 90s and it has to be. WE ARE NOT SELLING MUSEUMS. They have to be efficient modern structures to serve the homeowner.

Good afternoon. I’ve watched this video twice. Just to make sure I’m not mistaken. You don’t know what the terms are for home features. You bring your dog to other people’s home.? This seems to be an open house. Someone is trying to keep the house clean to show. You might want to follow a realtor to learn the proper terms for describing a home.

This is what I love to see, remodeling the interior so that it keeps original features of the house while updating it. So many of these houses are being gutted inside and made to look like the boring inside of an Apple Store. By the way, I just discovered your channel a couple of months ago, and you have the best and most thorough video presentations on KZbin. I love seeing how you showcase San Francisco homes. Keep up the great work.

Ditto, except for the sci-fi light fixtures that seem to the rage. If ever I move back to the City, I am bringing the stained glass lamps I made there 50 years ago, and hangin them up!

The second bathroom doesn't have a transom window above the bath, that is clerestory window. A transom window is set above the transom of a door or larger window. a clerestory window is one set above eye height.
