Its called disimiler metals along with salt and water causing the corrosion. Do not blame the manufacturer for your inability to perform your job. Also a rosebud/torch has no business being near that situation especially when you dont do it properly. Final thought the parts counter may be a better fit for you

I have a 2016. The issue I’m having is from a 5 gallon Wavian gas can plastic filler neck, which a piece broke off inside. Now, at the gas pump it continuously clicks off. I’m not sure if this piece made its way all the way down to the part you are showing, or if it’s stuck in the filler neck assembly?

I suppose both scenarios are possible. Good luck with the repair!

@3D4KAUTO7 күн бұрын
He told me that he was using 87 octane fuel all the time, but switched to higher octane already. I could imagine that if he had a lot of ethanol in the tank it could have brought in some water from the atmosphere. Water could ruin injectors over time...

@AndriiProdan-f9y16 күн бұрын
The whole problem is that the mechanic couldn't identify the problem and fix the car and then took money for "inspecting the car". The chain was changed 30 thousand kilometers ago and as you may know, the condition of the chain can be found out through a special window in the engine. And miraculously, they managed to fix the car 10 times cheaper in another place with a quality and experienced mechanic. I do not deny that the car is in bad condition, but I know what problems this car had and I know that they wanted to charge us a lot of money for changing the chain, the repair of which would not have affected the solution of the problem.
@3D4KAUTO13 күн бұрын
I was the mechanic who worked on your vehicle, and I want to clarify a few things. The issue I identified was incorrect engine timing, and at that point, I was instructed to stop further investigation. The critical system that needed attention was the engine’s timing, which required additional disassembly that wasn't approved at the time. I did not recommend changing the chain. Instead, I advised that we needed to check the timing. It’s a common misconception that when people hear "timing," they immediately think of the chain or belt, but in this case, it was more about ensuring the timing was properly aligned. I’m glad you found a solution elsewhere and that it worked out for you. However, given the condition of the vehicle, I would still advise keeping an eye on the intermittently flashing "low oil pressure" light, as it could lead to further issues if left unchecked. Best of luck with the car, and I hope it continues to serve you well.

I don't think corrosion if the fault of any car makers. Next time, try WD40. That should have been a 2-3 hour job tops.
@3D4KAUTO25 күн бұрын
Perhaps, you live in a different climate... Here in Canada vehicle makes other than Ford and GM usually dont have as much corrosion and are much easier to work with in terms of seized parts. I am speaking from my own experience as I have done a fair share of this work. It will take WD40 weeks to penetrate that much corrosion and only if the part is submerged in it completely.

I had one pilot sport 4, a 255/40-18 at 110Nm , its like horse riding at 160 km/h or faster. Only hunter roadforce balancer can dtect it. I measured its out of roundness, good to 1mm. Made a claim to Michelin Indonesia , they replaced it. Experienced 2 set of ps4 so far. So 1 bad out of 8. Now on PS5, all 4 has between 70 to 90Nm, what a crap. Funny thing is, not like horse riding when at 160km/h but some sort of resonance, but when i run faster and up to 220km/h it get smoother. I am now at 3,000km of use, so i want to roadforce balance it again, hoping to see if with use the those values can go down. I am rather dissapointed with Michelin😢 When was using ps4 and all 4 good ones, on smooth black tarmac they are actually very comfy tires for a UHP tire at high speed.

I've done 17 oil changes on my 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage so far. I added a Fumoto oil drain valve, which simplifies the process a little. I use two cheap drain pans. I let the oil pan drain as I am changing out the oil filter to save time, and two drain pans allow for that. I roll my car up homemade ramps made from 2" x 8" scrap boards. I find raising the car 5-6" makes it easier to slide underneath, but it's not necessary. I also use an oil filter socket with a stubby handle racket, because it's easier to slip on to the oil filter to tighten & loosen. None of these items (drain valve, ramps, or oil filter socket) are necessary, but I use them because I have them. Plus, the factory oil filter would have never come off with my bare hands. Nice presentation on how to do this with the least amount of added cost. Good job & thanks for sharing!

wonder what caused the connecting rod to fail??? this mechanic is really good! he's not afraid of the little o'l hybreeed battery engine... some mechs get intimidated. great job!
@3D4KAUTOАй бұрын
The cause was probably the prior hydrolock as the owner was driving with a cracked cylinder head for a while until he decided to repair it. The coolant was leaking into the cylinder. This could cause a minor hydrolock at some point (probably during startup). The hydrolock could have bent the connecting rod slightly. On these engines connecting rods are very tiny, so any deviation from perfect can damage them. Go figure...
