Those works like parameters in a function. You can define the base expression as a variable and then give it some parameters so you can reduce the length and complexity of the final expression. In this case the first parameter ($1) is the object you want to evaluate (dimension, measure) to show. Good morning, this solution is usually coupled with stream-level access, As in a security rule dedicated to one stream. if you have a scenario where the app has to be given access for separate users in one stream then app-level access can be applied.
