Hi Gary, love your controversial approach, but disagree with some of your commenters. I think it's a really lazy generalisation to assume that anyone who owns a Leica produces crap. Nobody in their right mind thinks that the camera influences the pictorial outcome. Just ratchet this back one step. You use a Fuji XT-5, which is a great camera. So how logical would it be to say that you assume yourself to be a great street photographer simply because you owns that camera? Imagine someone who can't afford an XT-5 and instead uses an XE-1 How logical would it be to berate you because you have the 'posh' XT-5 and don't work like the struggling artist with the XE-1? How can people think that? No, I know it doesn't make sense. So why would they make comments like that here?? I reckon anyone who makes that kind of gear based criticism should show what they're caapable of before venting their spleens. Make a comment? Sure, but let's see your best shots alongside the vitriol. Yes, I'm talking to you, people who have posted here but have no content on their channel. Peace on earth Gary. Love the channel.
@LASHMAR
@LASHMAR 11 күн бұрын
Hey. Thanks for your feedback. Firstly ... what is lazy is this "not watching my video and then commenting". That's lazy. Because if you have watched the video, you would be in possession of all of the information. If you had all of the information, you would know that at no stage did I say that anyone who owns a camera is producing crap. Some of the best photographers I know own Leicas. Also some of the worse. Now, secondly ... I'm editing and making the video. It's my channel. So I won't ratchet anything back. In fact, I wouldn't even ratchet it back if I'd gotten it wrong which I haven't. You are confusing my channel with those other street photography channels that play this ridiculous curtaling game. That doesn’t happen here. You came to the wrong pub. Also I have a FUJI XT5. It might be a great camera. It might not be. I never said I don't have great cameras. Not once. So I have no idea what your point is here either. I said gear won't make you a better photographer in the slightest. Which is correct. It's not even an opinion. It's scientific common sense. Now here is my main point ... you say ... "I reckon anyone who makes that kind of gear cased criticism etc etc etc" You are assuming I'm the kind of person who would be slightly guided by a comment here on youtube. Like in someway I'd guide my channel and thinking around your thoughts or anybody elses. That would maybe be the case if I was interested in growing this channel for some other person than myself. In fact the only reason I'm answering this is because it's enjoyable for me to answer this for five minutes whilst the kids are wrapping their presents. Also ... and finally ... everything ... every word on this video I stand by. 100% This is the problem with social media and youtube. It's full of people attempting to control others and those people tend to be those who have very little creative output themselves. They are armchair creators. Feel free to comment back. Jesus wept!

Good points Gary and really solid shots...I totally agree on the gear thing. TBH, probably my favourite street set up is the X-T30ii, teamed up with the 23 f2, or even the old 18-55 kit (variable aperture not ideal, but minor hindrance)...So camera, one or two lenses, cam bag and a few bits and bobs: spare batteries, wrist strap etc. Small form factor and so not too obtrusive, a ton of fun to use (AF not that bad) and really decent image quality, ready for post. Yeah, a lot of these YT Leica guys, I find their videos a total turn off. They seem to display a stance that borders on "look how great I am" (narcissistic arrogance?), as if, because they are now Leica shooters, they have somehow transcended to a higher photography plane, that mere mortals who shoot with 'ordinary cameras', just can't attain. Quite laughable really. That's not to say all Leica shooters are like that, there are obviously excellent photographers who use Leica gear, but I think we all know who the pretentious ones are...legends in their own minds.

I still use an old 1DX Mk1 released back in 2012, this does ANYTHING you throw at it if you have good glass (except silent shooting and easy video capture).
