what poundage with your SiCai recurve and what are you able to draw (comfort) with a 68" olympic recurve bow ? i shoot 30#@30" in recurve, and i'm interesting but what poundage with a bamboo bow ?? thank you if you know
@journeywitharrows274217 күн бұрын
@@laurentmeiller5171 hi Lauren, my sicai is 40lbs , i usually shoot between 52lbs and 60lbs with thumb draw comfortably. I havnt shot an olympic recurve bow in atleast 10years when i quit doing olympic archery. I just do asiatic archery and longbow archery now, my longbow is a 80lbs draw weight. One thing to bare in mind with any asiatic bow is that the shape of the limb and the materials will change the draw curve and experience of the draw weight. And of course with a longbow there is no levers (recurves or siyahs) to aid in pulling the weight.

In Poland we have had traditions of the eastern bow since the 16th century. In my opinion, the best and most adapted sabre for archery is the Tatar sabre. In Poland it is called - ordynka or smyczek. The shape of the handle allows you to hold the saber while shooting a bow.
@journeywitharrows274225 күн бұрын
@@jaaachu i deffinatly feel the shape of the handle is vital for this !!! Amazing info, thank you!
@jaaachu25 күн бұрын
@@journeywitharrows2742 please pay attention to other elements of armament compatible with the bow and sabre, check the term "kałkan". Of course, this is equipment of eastern origin, but since in Poland in the 16th and 17th centuries there was a fashion for the East, we had entire formations equipped with these types of weapons, e.g. "pancerni". Another interesting fact is that Poland had its own Tatars called "lipkowie". If you want to deepen this topic, I can send you some links.

Manchurian quivers which looked very similar to Korean quivers were the state of the art design. It had multiple compartments for various arrowheads and was so secure and comfortable to shoot from horseback. Korean quivers looked almost identical with two compartments (one designed for Baby Shots) except it was a little smaller in size.

Scotland’s king hath made a vow, Keep it well if he may; That he will conquer England Upon Saint James, his day. “Upon Saint James’s day at noon, At fair London will I be, And all the lords of Scotland Shall dine there with me.” Then up spoke good Queen Margaret, The tears fell from her eye: “Leave off these wars, most noble king, Keep your fidelity. “The water runs swift and wondrous deep, From the bottom to the brim; My brother Henry hath men good enough; England is hard to win.” At Flodden Field the Scots came in And stood in wind and rain. At Branxton Green this battle was seen, And there King James was slain. The Scots then fled in disarray, The English beat them blind; Their cannons were all won away, Their ensigns left behind. Twelve thousand were slain on Flodden Field That to the fight did stand, And many earls and lords were taken, The best in all Scotland. That day made many a fatherless child, And many a widow poor, And many a noble lady Sat weeping in her bower.
