Something to remember as an uke. What you do in training is what your body is going to be programmed to do when it matters. Think about that when you are receiving a technique. It's not just doing the technique that is training, but the person having the technique done to them is also very important. If you are protecting your body with kamae while doing techniques, maybe try doing the same acting as the uke. Even if the instructor is using someone to demonstrate a technique and doing step by step, the uke should be giving nothing and taking nothing step by step, keeping kamae. keeping your guard up.

So much BS.. I really tried to like Booj, but there is so much LARPing and mysticism crap, just go out learn boxing instead, there is none of this 'I can't explain to you how to become nothing/ empty', just learn to strike efficiently instead of wasting your time pretending that there is real magic. If you paid for the class, I don't doubt that Hatsumi was laughing at all of you. I really give up with this snake oil nonsense. Also, the chunky ginger gave you the bokken because he is giving 0% pressure and resistance. It's no wonder the booj classes are getting empty, how you do this without feeling stupid is beyond me, there must be something in the kool aid.
