I love the story form, whether it's of your own making, or a notable battle/campaign it makes it seem like its a real fight rather than a simulated slapfest. Side note, i've always found the crazed murderer nation/army trope weird... why don't they kill each other if they're that nuts?

Personally I like the "campaign" series the most (I think it was 'nids take over a planet"). Story battles that carry over multiple engagements!

This was a great video. Still trying to be able to catch your live streams but different time zones lol. Anyway just wanted to say, love your content that you do differently, but what made me fall in love with your channel the most was your story driven battles like this one. Nice fight as always. I have to ask though is this game still getting any kind of support? Mod or otherwise? Doesn't seem like many new units or stuff has came out lately and no fundamental changes to the game in terms of better features, fixed AI bugs etc.

This might have been the closest battle, I actually thought the imperials were going to win, but then so many angles were opened up for the tyranids to attack from. I think this is the best map for the tyranids to win at, uneven terrain, obstacles everywhere and the imperials having nowhere to go but into the lake. Kind of like a Dunkirk situation, no where for the imperials to run but into the sea or jump off a cliff rather than being literally cut down into little bite size pieces.

I know a lot will be surprised by the 17 year campaign length, but it's the 1 year to deploy that gets me, an entire year of ships dropping in assault teams, valkyries laden with troops, ammunition, vehicles... and you know 'cos this is the Imperium that it was 24/7 landings

And what's funnier is he would kill all 12 million cultists in less than 12 standard hours and without using any warp magic and it would be like a morning walk. A nuclear bomb is nothing, it would nullify the area of effect of the explosion just using its infinite warp power and compact everything, nullifying its radius of destruction and it would almost be an effect to swallow bombs and explode in your stomach in cartoons. That's if he wants to use warp, otherwise it's very likely that he won't even need to do that.

The loyalist and traitor legions both had heavy weapons at istivan, primarily in the form of Titans. For the loyalists, the legio they had got massacred along with everyone else. For the traitors, most of there titans got wiped out by the loyalist Titans, but one, the Dies Irea, an imperator class titan, was only driven back in the inital assault, and walked back out when the great betrayal was revealed, utilising it powerful weapons to massacre scores of loyalist marines. As for the chaos question, theres a bit of a trick there. Of the 11 legions on the planet (word bearers, world eaters, sons of horus, iron warriors, night lords, emperors children, iron hands, salamanders, raven guard, alpha legion, and death guard) 4 had some connections to Chaos at that point. The first was the Iron warriors, whos primarch Pertarabo had to see into the eye of terror constantly. A small connection, but quite major for the most staunchly anti chaos traitor primarch. The next was the emperors children, whos primarch Fulgrim had for many years possessed an artifact known as "the layer blade", which was possesed by a demon of Slannesh, who slowly misled and corrupted him. During the battle i believe that demon actually possed Fulgrim, immediately after killing ferrus manus. Next, there were the word bearers, who had found out about chaos after the emperors burned there holy city worshipping him to the ground, and whos Primarch lorgar actually had a demonic power up on Istivan, before getting gutten and almost killed by a very angry corvus corax. Finally, the sons of horus. They had a few encounters with demonically possessed people up to that point, but mostly just tried to ignore them, and went traitor due to a chaos infused ritual performed on horus which convinced him that the emperor was a horrible person and that he'd do a much better job. Everyone else hadn't any awareness of Chaos at all.

So much Yes <3 Seeing Lore Tubers just talk and show 40k art of this battle is one thing but not very many try do to a recreation of various 40k battles <3 This is way funner <3

At the start of the Horus Heresy, most of the traitor Space Marines weren't aligned with Chaos, didn't even know what it was apparently because the idea was "what you don't know can't hurt you", if they were not aware of Chaos it would somehow make them less susceptible... The Primarchs felt they had a legitimate grievance with the Emperor as the Great Crusade came to a close. Some felt they weren't being listened to, or that there were plans to side-line them or even do to their marines what they did to the Thunder Warriors before. It was a civil war that later morphed into a full on Chaos invasion.
