You really see a video of a vehicle that weighs thousands of tons, the culmination of a technology that has developed since the dawn of human civilization, a testament to the scale of what humans can do when working together, and you think "Hey what type of bird is that"

@graemedurie90942 жыл бұрын
The XPTs and the Gosford/Newcastle trains normally use the down line on the far west of the station. Some us can remember when the down main and down local both used was what is now platform 4. The locals terminated there as electrification further down only extended to the car yards and sheds. Platform 2 was used as the terminating line for the down Shore, and for up Shore services. Platform 1 was for the Berowra (and from dim memory also Cowan) locals, both steam and diesel. Platform 3 was up main and local, but occasionally down locals terminated there. Back then you could access platform 4 straight from the street as well as via the pedestrian bridges at either end.

trains are normally only 8 cars long on the suburban network and they generally dont have much in the way of spare platform space so i was wondering with these being 10 cars in length will they fit on all suburban stations that they stop at on their way out of the metro network?
@andrewbreglec15622 жыл бұрын
Platforms at Hornsby have been extended to accommodate the 10 car sets - I know this for a fact. These trains (coming from Newcastle at least) would generally also stop at Epping and Strathfield on the way to Central. I don't know for sure but am making the assumption that Strathfield and Epping are okay
