How much did it cost you to mix and master each song? What mics and stuff, your songs have a lovely sound, would love to see some behind the scenes
@alexander.guy.youtube9 ай бұрын
Hello! Yay! I am glad you like:) I hope this gives you a good idea of the process: I recored all with a 3 mic setup, a small diaphragm condenser rode NT5 for the guitar, a large diaphragm condenser rode NT2-A (which I borrowed) for the vocals, and a Zoom H4n stereo field recorder in the corner which both of the other mics went into. I recorded all in a lil cabin, 9 of the 10 songs in a single session and I played the guitar and sang together to keep it as close to a live performance as I could. I got the same guy who ended up mixing the songs to come in to position the microphones and try minimise phasing (I tried recording at the start in a studio but preferred it like this). After the recording it took another year to get ready. There was a surprising amount of assembly to do as I'd played the songs for about 10-15 minutes each repeating some verses and choruses as a compromise between polish and single performance consistency. I tried mixing myself at the start but gave up after a few months, so I got it done for 1800 NZD with a friend, in the end though I walked back a few of the changes the engineer had put in and finished it off myself before sending it on to the mastering guy (who had the credentials of mastering the first fleet foxes album) and who charged about 850USD. It cleared me out, but, I thought in the end it was worth it, 'cause I definitely couldn't have polished it up properly by myself. Next time though, I think I could ask a little less from the mixing engineer off the bat and do more of it myself. Hope that answers your question! But let me know if you'd like to know anything else, I'd be more than happy to answer:)

@@alexander.guy.youtube Thanks for such a long cool awnser, just one more little question 😀 what was your mic placement 😀
@alexander.guy.youtube8 ай бұрын
The guitar and vocals were jimmied around 'till they sounded okay with the phasing, guitar mic was pointed to a spot on the body between the sound hole and a bit down from the neck, then the room mic was about 2 metres away pointing in the general direction :) hope that helps!

Its not Scottish. Composed by the Mc Peake family from Northern Ireland. Our cultures are so similar I understand the error but it is an Irish ballad.

Thank you for sharing your love of Pooh! PS I definitively do not think seeing the words is necessary. An audio book should be carried on the strength of “voice”. So just ask friends and family for feedback and suggestions based on “voice” in all the essential aspects of that word with respect to an audio experience. No matter what though if you are enjoying the task, keep adding to your channel! 😃
