I'm already in Episode 17. But there was a scene in this episode wherein Yukiya had a flashback of the first episode of the 2 boys running away from someone/something and fell from the mountain. Yukiya was on his way to meet Wakamiya while he was shooting arrows in the sky to make a shield of their Kingdom. What confused me is what Yukiya said "This place looks familiar" as he was dizzy. Could Wakamiya have lied to him about his family? Could Yukiya be more related to the Crown then we are led to think? Just my suspicion.

I'm very proud that i predict the ep 13 twist way ahead since episode 1 there are many hints but i still sad about the reveal my favourite character was sacrifice to subvert the cliche trope

The fact that they kept leading us on for 7 years is what I can't let slide. If it was just a rumor in 2017 only to cancel the idea, that would've been one thing, but 7 years, 2 trailers, and a few official images later only to cancel the whole thing? Unforgivable.

Manga reader: Taiyo is 16, Mutsumi is 16/17. The siblings are biologically related, the Mangaka just drew them differently to showcase their personalities and skill sets. Overall I think the anime is doing a great job in adapting the manga, as if starts off more as a slice of life, episodic and delves into the plot later on

The story is indeed an amalgamation of various works by Yamakawa Junichi. Some are very loosely adapted (prologue and chapter 2), some are played out as is (chapters 1 and 3, except the latter one was originally about Japanese PoWs at the end of WW2). They mention the specific one-shots under the chapter titles.

The only thing im a little miffed about is that i have to re-watch the plot i already know instead of finally getting a continuation after all this time. This season will have 25 episodes, which should cover the plot of the original anime but not more, so thats more waiting for season 2. However, i dont mind rewatching it at all and it seems well made so far. Looking forward to it. I havent read the manga; if the original screwed things up in a way that caused the lack of continuation back then, rebooting is only logical. Either way, having Lawrence and Holo once again is pretty dope and im very happy with the decision to keep the same voiceactors.

I think the romantic interest of the merchant from the first village to Lawrence adds to understanding of her motivation later on in the series, and gives more weight to her and his actions.
