This video answered some questions I had during removal...unfortunately, only knew about the Sam's Motor & Machine video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXyad6lmpbl8q8ksi=Jz4oPlt-P9b7pzcZ)...both videos have pieces/parts the other doesn't. In retrospect, it wasn't near as complicated as I thought initially...removing panels is always scary but actually came apart fairly well..but I think the documentation is lacking once it's all installed with respect to the cabling. My video switches to CarPlay by holding the HANGUP button as noted, but I'm not getting audio. And I have no idea what to troubleshoot as it's not real clear about the audio connections. I'll be trying UAD's support next and will let you al know :)

True to my comment above,, Sam's vid noted you need to switch back to the RR default screen and choose AUX AUDIO as the input. Again, something that would be good to document...sigh. Also, since I'm here, car phone is echoing and I'll be researching that issue.

@@jcz4035 There is a dummy audio plug that goes into the AUX audio in the back seat area that needs to be plugged in.

Yes, my understanding is the plug needs to be plugged in and it’s helps with audio and voice calls.

Hello where have you tucked in the quad lock connector. Can you please help me out with that. I have the system working but I can’t fit radio back in place as the connector is stuck at the back. Any chance you can send a pic or a video or where in the aperture have you fitted the connector at the back

Hi yes I did manage to fit it eventually. You need to make sure the connector lie flat right in the centre cavity at the back of the hollow space. Once you lie it flat , the radio unit would fit back into place

Hi There. Apple CarPlay doesn't support any video apps. But you are able to use the mirroring function in the interface box to mirror KZbin videos to dash screen.

Useful video, I had no issues installing mine into the car, but I have a few issues seen it’s been installed. 1. When I connect the phone via USB port the CarPlay kicks in no problem and all controls work with no issues, however I get no audio at all, as a workaround I’ve had to use my cars Bluetooth and just use the interface of CarPlay. 2. The wireless CarPlay part worked for a week and just doesn’t work anymore. I’ve tried resetting and forgetting the phone etc but it doesn’t work anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

Just used this to fit the unique auto carplay box in a manual evoque. No space for the unit by the gear lever (as seen here) so ended up putting it behind drivers side knee airbag. Does involve a bit more work removing the airbag while fitting but it is possible. Thanks for video. It helped me alot

@@SeanByrne-vo1kf I just worked usinhg the video. I,ve done 2 now and they take me approx 2 hours to fit taking it nice and easy. Manual gearbox cars will take a bit longer as you need to remove the airbag under the steering wheel . You will need some plastic trim tools. The plastic piece behind the steering wheel is quite hard to remove so take it easy and ease it out so as not to break any of the clips. I didnt take it completely out as in the video but just left it loose so I coulkd get behind it to undo the 2 bolts. For the mic I eased back the cover that has air bag written on it on right hand windscreen pillar to reveal the screw and then once removed took the mic cable up there. V pleased with the result.

I have brought a 2008 a5 with the bang and olufsen stereo, same display and centre console as the video, the car has an idcore kit installed… but i have no control over it, is there a key im supposed to press and ir hold to gain control over the system? If not ill be removing it for a Bluetooth dongle 😞

I recently purchased this from Unique Auto Developments for my 2016 and it went well and worked immediately. Just be conscious that you need a USB extension before you start the install. This is in the instructions but I think should be listed on the site (or just included in the kit). I do wish they also had more detail on where to place the mic in the video or instructions. Mine is located under the center console latch, works well and is barely visible. It's definitely worth the money and 2 hours of time.

Was it in a F type by chance? I note a lot of these aftermarket setups seem to bug out when the vehicle is swapped into Dynamic mode. Screen freezes, etc. Any issues?

After doing this, i would highly recommend using blue tape on the nearby surface when you pry the plastic off. I now have lots of little scratches all over the dash from the tools (same ones shown in video) Should have know better

Absolutely zero information on the products used. I managed to find the screen overlay.. but what do you use to plug in the ribbon cable. Is it just factor cabling or is there an adapter? Your site does not have this product from what i can tell. I just need the missing piece of what the ribbon cable plugs into.
