Sound is a little too compressed in my opinion. Will need the original CD to taste it fully.

I may not know the story of "Miriam", but i do know this is an excellent Symphony by Gernsheim as are his other 3 also. All very beautiful.

Bellissimo e commovente

If you forget that this piece was composed by the famous conductor, you will enjoy it. It's a good piece、I like it. Now I can listen it with my mind open. Thank you Ueno san for your uploading.

I never heard this wonderful piece before and my attention didn't falter for a moment. The spaciousness of the hall is beautifully captured and the organ is marvelous and authentic sounding, as opposed to some hired electric thing so prevalent today in concert halls. The tenor, unfortunately is definitely singing just a under the pitch, and the tenor is pretty central to the whole piece.

A wonderful piece that reveals what a fine composer Bliss was. I owned a copy of this recording in my youth, but it was pared with the Oboe Quintet and Bax's oboe Quartet. Even though I was an oboist then, I had played clarinet and fell instantly in love with this work. What a fabulous recording, brings back so many memories.

This is one of Frank Bridge's best work. I could listen to it over and over.

Does the first 10 seconds remind you of Star Wars music? Like the Storm Troopers march? Amazing similiarity.

Fascinating. Is this Brahms' own version (which I think he composed along with, or after, the orchestral version?)?

Just why Parry’s symphonies, particularly nos. 4 and 5 are very rarely performed is a mystery. Listening to this music, unless you are totally biased, there’s no way he can be judged as a second tier composer. Ok so he’s not up there with Elgar and RVW the two major British composers of the late 19th early 20th century but who cares, his music is still very much deserving of due recognition.
