Fun fact: if you head up into the hillier section of Anchorage and look to the north on a clear day, you can see Denali off in the distance.

Just imagine a 90 km hike carrying your full equip and food supplies on a 3-5 km elevation, through the glacier area... just to get to the base camp. I admire endurance people have to accomplish such things. Also, if anything happens to you, there is no way you can get help or medical attention quick enough, you are on your own against the mountain.

Yeah, I am not doing that. One wrong move and you'll be going down the whole mountain head first. Prefer slow and steady.

One wrong move and you land on your backside using this method correctly. If you go down headfirst you are using my technique incorrectly. Thanks for commenting Jim!

@@GrantAxeRawlinson Eh, still don't trust it. If there is one big rock that you haven't seen you are going tumbling down. I always prefer slow.

Awesome, RAF Mountain Rescue had good success on this route but not so sadly for the Hereford team who tried the North Face route some years earlier... RIP Tony Swierzy & [Andy Baxter] Thank you for your company and your assistance in the Paul Rodgers Bill Scott Rescue...

From the beginning of this video, is it possible to use 4x4 up to the nearest possible way to drop supplies? Just wondering i looks flat to me with river crossing. It will save time rather than walking from the nearest town.

I'd like to climb K2. But it's expensive and I also don't fancy taking my chances with that 1 in 4 statistic. So I'll settle for watching this video. Thanks!

Thanks. Definitely helpful. I'm not sure if I should get the Sea Eagle Fast Track 465 or the Explorer 420X. Good to know there is still the option of drain holes on the Fast Track. I plan to do mostly flat water, but some of the rivers around here have class I, II and III. The Fast Track is only recommended up to class II. The Fast Track tracks better, is faster and won't be blown around as much as the Explorer due to smaller diameter tubes. But the explorer has 16 drain holes and is better on white water. Guess I'll go with the Explorer to be safer in white water, but slower on the flat water.

About eleven thousand feet of climbing from base to the top. The top of this peak is 28,000 feet above sea level and in upper part of K2 there is very little oxygen.
