Dumbest take on skunks EVER!!! Let it alone for four months??? 120 mornings with bathing your dogs 4X per day??? Tell my guests during cookouts to ignore the odor because of grub control??? If you REALLY believed your own BS, why not handle a REAL SKUNK and not a stuffed toy???

Had a fellow who had skunks in his shed. Easy- Be ready with an open container of moth balls, open the door while standing out of the line of fire and toss the moth balls into the building and shut the door. It worked.

I’ve been a skunk whisperer for four years and I can provide a little advice. First off, I’ve been vaccinated against rabies and if I ever get scratched or bitten I’ll get another one. If you think you have skunk kits, don’t go out at dusk. The kits have no fear and are super curious. They will run up to you and climb over your feet. Don’t reach down and pet them. Don’t use your hand to simulate their stomping, they will return it and may tackle your hand. Play biting is common. And adorable. Don’t put skunks’ favorite foods (black soldier fly larvae is like candy to them) near where you sit quietly, and very still or adult skunks will stand next to you a let you gently hold their tails while they eat. They may let you place your hand on their flank. So you don’t want to do that. Don’t put your hand near their face, (for real, because people have said that they were bitten). I get my bare feet licked often, for whatever that’s worth. If you feed them every night they will come back and their numbers will grow. But skunks are wanderers. Unless they have babies they don’t generally stay for long and new ones (mostly females, males get chased away) find your feeding station. Everyone says don’t do what I do so I can’t recommend being a skunk whisperer. They don’t stay in the area for long so I don’t feel like I’m disrupting their lives much. And I certainly don’t feel like I’m in any danger. My theory for why skunks tolerate people is that Native American people kept skunks around, for the same reasons cats were welcome, for tens of thousands of years and they are still half domesticated. They are gentle and sweet. PS: You’ll probably get a few opossums too. They are very shy and harmless. I love them almost as much as skunks.

Emotional anthropomorphic advice is bad advice for yard pests. Best advice: Kahlenberg T-3A Air Horn from 10 am to noon. Then the water sprinkler if they get slick.

We have a lot of possums in our neighborhood. They often eat side-by-side with the stray cats we leave food out for. We’ve never had any issues with them. They generally keep to themselves.

Worthless "advice". Maybe you can play this woman's annoying audio and scare the groundhog away.

I have found, if you take a $3 bag of mortar, pour it in a hole, wet it, it'll harden, and it deters them from coming back. There is always three or four holes you have to find, because they make ways out. Also, keep in the ground wet. They don't like that. Take a hose, poke it in a hole and fill it up. It caves in.

I had a neighbor that found four baby skunks in the well around one of their basement windows. They called a local gal that did a lot with wild animals. She came out, put on a set of disposable coveralls and some gloves. Told us to stay back because this could get stinky. Then she fished each baby out and let it go at the edge of the yard (and field) where the mother was hiding with a few more babies. Other than her commenting about getting sprayed (and the aroma) you would never have known that she was getting sprayed. She didn't flinch, cringe or anything like that. She said that they let her have it when she pulled them out, and the area sure smelled like it. She also said that that was probably the first time that the babies had sprayed in actual self defense. All ended well. The gal removed the coveralls and gloves, bagged them in plastic to be thrown away. The aroma dissipated in a couple of hours and the babies were spotted a few more times over the following weeks before heading out on their own. Looking back, it occurs to me that our neighborhood didn't have very many feral cats like other neighborhoods in the area did... I wonder why.

We qere quoted $700 to set up traps and remove them if they were trapped. It was not a 100% guarantee either. Im going to do this and see if it works. Unfortunately I cannot just leave them as i have young kids and a dog that play in the backyard. The dog was already sprayed and i cant have the kids getting sprayed or anyone hurt. I dont want to hurt them but I do need them out. Hopefully this helps! Thank you!!!

I was backing out of my driveway when I heard a high pitched squealing sound. I stopped and realized that there was a baby bunny hobbling over to the grass. So I got out and realized the poor thing must have been under my car to escape the heat. He was definitely injured, bleeding on his left lower leg. So I careful picked him up and put him in a box I had. He could fit in one hand, probably only a few weeks old. I was able to contact a local mammal rehabilitation center, and dropped him off that same day. Poor little guy. He was moving relatively ok, so hoping he will be able to recover!

I’m scared!! lol do you recommend leaving it food in a furtheest part across where I sit in my gazebo? He’s been going in there like I’m not even there and eating my cats food in mg cat tent lol in the gazebo and I don’t mind feeding it - I’m like Snow White ovef here but this is a new one for me! I said I wanted a farm & to take care of my land and sea animal souls and well this is the jersey shore so I have the groundhog , raccoon , 2 squirrels my 5 cats , 4 indoor , so I feel like I should do that but what should I feed him. & should I continue leaving food in the back part of my yard and well Still not have food on the side I had .- I can feed her and bring it right in , and I already buy peanuts by the barrel for my squirrels and birds plus cardinal food and now I gel like maybe it’s a she and she’s gonna have babies and I would like to have them here just wanted to see how to go about it safely for all of us! Btw all the animals are always together it seems ! The raccoon groundhog and this guy plus the cats all play I’ve watched them run thru my squirrels tunnels I made 😂😂😂😂 ok oversharing!! If anyone would like to see the videos I took of them all I’ll post them on my community tab. ! And tag this channel. !

Best advice. If they don't cause damage besides smell at night....no biggie. Call me crazy, but the odor of a skunk in small amounts like that at night doesn't bother me. Why do they smell when they're walking around? Are they just spraying a little to mark their territory?

I wouldn't mind sharing my large outdoor space with skunks, IFF the smell and risk of getting sprayed wasn't there. I know thiols, acetates and sulfides are the main olfactory offenders here. Is there any way, via diet or otherwise, to lessen the animals production of these substances?

I have had Skunks under my shed for more than 6 years now. I have only discovered where they were living 2 weeks ago! Coming out of my garage one night was a new experience in the dark. I nearly stepped on him/her/it and the Skunk seemed to be as terrorized as I was because both of us took off in opposite directions! An outside light came in handy later!

Humane harassment, I love it! A number of years ago our dog was sprayed, what a mess! Recently we had a mother with babies under our shed. Fortunately we no longer have any pets but we were still concerned since we found a dead skunk in the yard with a frothy mouth, yikes! I did some research and learned all the things you reviewed. We were patient and they have moved on. Thanks for the good advice. 😊
