Just watches some of your precession video shorts. What wing are you liking these days? What do you weigh? I’m 210lb seems most folks are a bit lighter than me, so I’m just trying to gauge it. At this point I’m estimating I need a 2400 cm2 or bigger wing, maybe up to 3000. And span of 1300 to 1800. Thoughts?
@Subscribe2Glide4 ай бұрын
@@MrJlcurl i like the axis png 1300 and the art pro 1401. A 2400cm² wing will be too slow and draggy because it will become too pitch sensitive above roughly 10mph. I weight 195lbs now but i started at 240lbs. I used to own a 2400cm² and a 2600cm² wing but i sold both of them. I am selling my axis png 1300 right now for $777 with the mast, fuse, and rear wing. I am selling so i can but a wing that is 100cm² smaller, the art pro 1401. The axis png 1300 has all the low speed lift of larger wings but it is a wing that is good at everything. Let me know if u have any other questions

Well!? I'm surprised and confused. But I think we can get this to work which will make your videos MUCH more popular! So lets do some science: When the mast moves through the water you have nice smooth laminar flow where the wing is getting thicker to the water flow, then flow turns turbulent (bad) where it starts getting thinner to the water. So you want to push the water out/away from the mast where its getting thicker then Attract it back where its getting thinner to avoid that turbulent flow and a big chaotic wake. Also do you know those Icey things? Frozen cooldrink in a plastic tube that when you squeese on the back of the tube the icy shoots out the open front..? Well we want that effect: squeeze the back of the mast so it shoots forward through the water..!? So Hydrophilic coating for the back,thinning again part of the mast..? To 'pull' the flows back together and avoid turbulent flow. If it works! and because you get an effect like squeezing on the back of an Icy I Then the foil itself: You want lift so try it on the high pressure bottom but not the top. You don't want flow separation on the top rear vacuum surface, so try hydrophilic there. Or just the same as the mast for pumping..? Simple masking tape or box tape should work to mask off the different areas. Perhaps a small neutral area between..? Hydrophilic: Here there's a product called RainX for windows that attracts water. This causes droplets to spread out in a thin film of water over the glass that you can see through like its just thicker glass, vs light getting scattered by droplets. On shades..? good luck! :) let me know.
@Subscribe2Glide5 ай бұрын
@@RayleneCawood i like that you have the spirit of creativity, problem solving, optimism, and the willingness to test new things conceptually! I agree that the water needs to be attracted to the foil on some parts. My new wing comes stock as hydrophobic, so i could test it easily by sanding down only the trailing end to make the water stick to it, i could add my hydrophilic stuff to test to. I came to the conclusion superhydrophobic coatings create more, that even the stock hydrophobic coating was not ideal, so i sanded my mast down, my new wing is still hydrophobic so i will consider sanding down the trailing end only, basically the more the water sticks to the surface than the less water disruption which means less drag. It is interesting that the huge and long formation of underwater vortexes it creates all equal drag so if the water can return to its regular condition faster that means less drag. Thanks for coming up with ideas to test!

How it's working?
@Subscribe2Glide6 ай бұрын
@@MigelKarlos its like an underwater airplane, jumping provides gravitational potential and the wings convert gravitational potential into forward motion. The body changes the angle of the wing to optimize lift and drag as the G forces go from 2 to 0 from jumping. Its like a pump track on land, push on the downhill, pull legs up on the uphill.
