You can ask them to make the cymbal a certain weight?

Yes sir. I ordered through Cymbal Crash on Reverb. He negotiates as well

@@jonathanbormann5077 thanks! I was looking on reverb, would you say “cymbal crash” is a reliable vendor? I’m always a little nervous buying from reverb. I also noticed a vendor called “sounds Anatolian Turkish cymbals” selling Mehteran cymbals

I just received a 22" Rain Ride, and 18" Light rain crash - love them both - instantly ordered a set of 14" rain light hats, 19" amazon light crash and 19" light x dry crash! Amazing!

@the_foliot yep. I don't know about now, but they were made Masterwork. Weird thing is Masterwork cymbals are significantly less expensive. After playing around with ST for a while, I didn't really like the way they do business.

It seems like Mehteran's series very closely emulate several Meinl series. The Ayasofya series seems EXACTLY like Meinl Byzance Extra Dry, the Sahra series seems equivalent to Meinl Byzance Sand line, and the Rain line looks very much like Meinl Foundry Reserve. Interestingly the Mehteran Lotus line seems very similar to Paiste cymbals. I just got a deal on a 21" Sahra Paper Thin Ride ( at a third of the price of a Benny Greb Sand Crash/Ride which I'd love), and got a steal for 14" Ayasofya Thin Hi Hats which I hope compare favorably with Meinl Byzance Extra Dry hats that Matt Garstka used to use. Do you find that all the Rain line compares with the Meinl Foundry Reserve? And do you believe Mehteran makes their lines like this intentionally to have easy comparisons for us that are more familiar?
@jonathanbormann50778 ай бұрын
I don't know why I never saw this, haven't been back to this for a hot minute. 😂 I don't doubt that the similarities are intentional. They can't actually make them identical, but being that Adem Diril also used to work making Meinls, it's no surprise. I think there's 4 Diril bros. that worked making Meinl Byzance and Paiste 20 Series that have branched out and started their own companies.
@robsco1249 Жыл бұрын
I ordered a couple of customized hi hats. They can produce really anything you want. Same level of Meinl and Diril cymbals but with better prices (the bad thing is that there are still priced shippings from Turkey and custom duties to pay).

I ordered through Cymbal Crash on Reverb. No duties or anything to CA. Thinking about ordering some other stuff. I have some customized ideas that would be awesome IMO.

@@1.Ventura I ordered through Cymbal Crash on Reverb. I just specified the weights I wanted and he custom ordered them for me. Don't trust the description, message and verify even if you use Sounds Anatolian. Make an offer too even if stuff is on sale. They're always willing to negotiate. Sounds Anatolian made me a really good offer for some others I'm looking at. They'll have ones custom made if you have other ideas. Like my next ones I'm thinking of is a 22" Jazz series that's raw underneath and 16" hats that are X-dry btm and Soft top but sandblasted. They said no problem.

@@1.Ventura being that they're handmade they won't be exact but I gave the ballpark number. For instance the 22" I requested they aim for 1900g. I haven't weighed it to see how close they got but I like it. I did the same with the hi hats.
