Lets talk about the toyota wars, where a hoars of toyota hilux technicals swarmed over AT mines to fight col Gaddafi's forces and won. This stuff happens irl.

More is always better (sometimes - see below). Assume 1/3 of the shots hit with 60 damage. The expected value, i.e. the average damage over an infinite number of shots is the product of the damage and the probability of the event which in this case is 60 damage / 3 or 20 damage. Adding a second zook in with an independent chance to hit gives the following probabilities: both miss: (2/3)^2 = 4/9, first hit second miss (2/3)*(1/3) = 2/9, first miss second hit is the same as previous 2/9. Both hit (1/3)^2 = 1/9. Thus the expectation is 0*4/9 + 2*(60*2/9) + 120/9 = 40 or double the damage of a single zook. Doubling the damage of the zook instead gives the same expectation as two zooks (120/3 = 40) but you have a much higher chance to deal 120 damage (1/3 of the time) where as with two zooks with half the damage your probability of dealing 120 is half that or 1/9 BUT the likelihood of dealing some damage ( at least 60) is much higher (5/9), which is why they feel better against lighter targets. Effectiveness in this sense is probably the "feeling" that the weapon chunks HP. Against ultralights and light vehicles, 60 damage is considerable. Against medium tanks and heavies, 60 feels like nothing but 120 is on par with an AT gun hit which is much more of a deterrent. At least that's my guess.

great cast.. amongst the COH casters over the years, you are my favorite.. you are only one that spends time on the tact map showing displacement of troops across the map of both sides & quick peaks at the micro of the engagements...thanks

HI dude, really appreciate that you are organizing and casting high level 2v2 tournies! It was a shame that we did not have big 2v2 tournies in the last years of CoH2 and 1v1 got all the ML attention. Looking forward to more casts when the spectator mode will be released! Keep on your good work!

An old CoH2 trick that i believe is still works in CoH3. You can sometimes cancel out your grenade throw to thrick your opponent into thinking you are throwing. You do so by when your troops are about to throw, and then immediately tell them to move around, your opponent's troop will sometimes make a call out that the grenade being thrown, making them to move away cover, but since you cancel the throw, you saved your ammo, and forced your opponent to move away from cover giving you the advantage to take them out on open field.

Personally I also like to throw point-blank grenade when two squad fighting in extreme close range. As there is no minimum range for grenade throwing, and a major part of grenade warning cue for the enemy is the infantry model's throwing animation and nade flying trail, point-blank throwing greatly reduces the opponent's reaction time to the grenade and thus increase the chance it can connect, combined with short fuse nade that USF elite infantry has, unless the opponent retreat the squad the instance he hear the voice cue, the nade is guaranteed to make damage.

TLDR: Infantry shouldn't attack suppressed units, unless that's all that is left on the board I think a key factor that a lot of people tend to forget about the HMG is that suppressing a unit also makes it harder to hit, unless it's aoe damage. They even become more difficult to hit when they are suppressed and behind cover. For example, if you're fighting a suppressed gren behind yellow cover, you would need 3-4 Riflemen to equal the same output of ONE. suppressed with No cover, 2 riflemen. I sometimes wonder if that is why people tend to run 4 riflemen and completely skip the HMG. They can observe that their DPS just drops off when a friendly HMG is in play. On the flip side of this, the suppressed units get HUGE debuffs. IIRC, -25% accuracy + 4 times longer to shoot + 4 times longer to reload. I think something else was applied but I don't remember. So, with those debuffs, you can actually walk passed 3-4 CQB infantry and come out with minor damage. That's when I understood something. The game is encouraging you to walk right pass these suppressed units. It wants your mainline infantry to work its way right into their weapon teams (more importantly, their AT). If you don't ignore them, your infantry's DPS could drop significantly attacking suppressed units. It becomes even Worse when attacking pinned units.

Nice guide, always good to see more of these, if I have a machine gun in the fight shooting at a squad in green cover, I like to bait the squad out if it by feigning a grenade if I know they're microing the fight.
