That first scene got me good. It still gives me chills. Something mysterious, so high in the sky, swooping in at you and becoming bigger and bigger until it's about to eat the entire screen. One of the most memorable entrances of a movie monster I can recall.

Tbh it's definitely worth the watch! It's about ranch-owning siblings OJ and Emerald Haywood, who, after random objects falling from the sky result in the death of their father, attempt to capture video evidence of an unidentified flying object with the help of tech salesman Angel Torres and documentarian Antlers Holst

I’m happy that Hoyte Van Hoytema won the Best Cinematography Oscar for his work on Oppenheimer, but I feel he should have also been nominated and won for this film as well. The cinematography and overall camerawork in this film was amazing and was a pleasant experience

Definitely. His longer takes in Nope weren't cut up into pieces and you'd see how fluid he did handheld in it. Always hoped to see him do longer IMAX shots of actors running or riding a bike.

If, her calls are heard… As a research subject why has nobody created a repeater that transposes her calls into the other frequency? I recall back in 1989 I spent a few hours talking with the professor of audiology in Hawaii about this type of hearing aid… I couldn’t get a clear answer on why it was not More commonly used for frequency range hearing loss- So here’s my proposal - Create a number of floating microphones that would act as monitoring devices and when the sound shows up in the 52 range… It would get “transcribed“ and then Ra ra broadcast… Any replies in the other frequency range… Would also get transcribed and re-broadcast. Of course there would have to be a logic system set up so that there wasn’t multiple re-broadcasts. So the microphones would have to be connected to each other to prevent multiple transmissions of the same information

The first 1/3 of the movie is full of essential information to understand the themes of the movie, all the foreshadowing and how MC find out what the UFO really is.

What's more scary to me is how you can clearly hear the people screaming in agony inside the thing (and how that's almost the only sound it makes)

Yeah, that's what so cool about it. A creature that lets you hear it digesting its prey. Mainly because it is hollow and the screams echo through it outside it's mouth.
