hi what mode you using sport?
@Pesting_Yawa Жыл бұрын
Why you turn off the TC
@mazzeo321 Жыл бұрын
When TC is on if it feels you braking traction it will start to cut power to limit slip which is generally what you want to happen, but when I’m going 180 the last thing I want is the bike to lunge forward because the ecu decided to cut throttle it can be jolting and mess you up, maybe potentially cause a crash if it happens at a bad time. I raced this bike on the track alot and always had TC off so I was used to letting the back slide if it needs to and was able to control it
@Pesting_Yawa Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply I live in newyork I wanna try this taconic parkway I never went to 180 yet .. Btw what you using mode slick or race ?
@mazzeo321 Жыл бұрын
race mode majority of the time. Race mode still has some wheelie control active which i also hated but turning TC off takes care of that so its practically the same as slick mode minus maybe a few degrees of allowed lean angle on throttle@@Pesting_Yawa

Do you know if the 16 came corked up stock with reeds in intake boot and restrictive exhaust or are they pretty unrestricted, is stock tune good, any annoying lean spots or stalling/flaming out? Thanks
@mazzeo321 Жыл бұрын
The 16 didn’t come with reeds in the intake so you don’t have to worry about removing that, but it does come pretty smogged up elsewhere. You can find a cheap Des mpg kit online for like 20 bucks with a few tuner sod bolts and maybe washers that let you pull off some hoses and a charcoal canister to free that up. You also will deal with flameout pretty bad stock, and even worse if adding an aftermarket exhaust. Back in 2016 the best fix was adjusting the TPS but over the years I’ve found with the Ktm’s the best route is to leave the tps stock and get a fuel tuner, jd , bday, multiple brands sell them but they are all the same unit and work great at eliminating flameout stalling, and smooth out power everywhere

Are these 500s suitable for longer distance road riding where youre doing 60-70 mph for long periods?
@mazzeo321 Жыл бұрын
They can be, if it’s all you ever do is highway riding maybe a 701 would be a better choice for sustained high speed/ higher rpms, but I did plenty of highway riding on my 500. It’s important to have the proper gearing for the type of riding your going to do. Sprockets are cheap and quick to swap out and I had multiple chains set at different lengths, I had 13-15t fronts and 42-50 tooth rears. I might run 13-48, 15,42, all depends on the type od riding but obviously the bigger the rear the lower your top end is and more torque you have on bottom end, smaller rear sprocket for highway riding

what end cap do you have on your exhaust? is it wider than stock? where did you get it?
@mazzeo3214 жыл бұрын
It was the bestdualsportsbikes.com end cap, it is much wider opening than stock and freed the bike up alot much louder and better flow than stock end cap and a good option if you dont want to go with a new muffler, i had it on temporarily just to hold me over until i could get my fmf and with my new bike went straight to fmf muffler and a fuel tuner is the best way to go

Would you recommend building a exc into a supermoto or just buy 690 smc?
@mazzeo3214 жыл бұрын
Theres nothing to build its just wheels and a caliper bracket so it comes down to what are you going to do with the bike? If its strictly supermoto you might want the smc, i like the exc because i ride alot of offroad and enduro type riding so if i had the smc i wouod be stuck with road only. If i wanted a full on supermoto and didnt want go ride dirt i would probably just choose the 690

Legal on street in NY ? I live NY so can i make dirtbike street legal or has to be super moto
@mazzeo3214 жыл бұрын
This bike is street legal anywhere, but it comes from the factory that way that's why it's an enduro and not a dirt bike. It was a 12k bike but meets all emissions standards and DOT laws for a street legal motorcycle. Technically NY will not issue you a plate for a dirt bike even if you add lights and all that stuff If the title says for offroad use only on it, but there are ways around this such as registering the vehicle in another state that will give plates to dirt bikes such as vermont

My brand new (2 hours on it) European 2019 KTM 500 EXC-F runs so bad that top speed is 95km/h, but up to that it runs sort of ok as long as you do not give to much throttle and it do have very little power but never stalls and starts easily. If you remove side cover to the air-filter so it gets more air it gets a lot worse... I had a Mercedes 190E car that did run just like that when it was running way to lean with 40% alcohol to save money. Everything points to that it is running scary lean and KTM dealership is 5 hours drive away and closed for 1 week so I will have to see if I can fix it myself...

Rondo Cat I recently worked on a 2018 Ktm 500 to adjust the TPS, it is possible but they made it harder to get to. I chose to loosen the clamps on the throttle body and rotate it by prying it with a long flathead screwdriver and then was able to get a torx bit in there to loosen the tps and adjust it. They also changed the plug so a older generation tps adjustment plug won’t fit, I ended up cutting the wires and splicing in a connected that I could hook my meter up to and test the voltage that way
@mazzeo3216 жыл бұрын
The cover that is protecting the tps is the hardest part to get off because the screws are behind the frame once the cover is off it’s not too hard to adjust the tps itself. I left the cover off for now so I could make adjustments over time if needed
