Bring back CBC the way it was before it was colonized by identity politics. Universalism triumphant over race and gender essentialism.

Great number. Ian and Sylvia definitely has left a legacy of writing and singing. The same goes for all the icons in this video. They all were a pleasure to listen to.

Damn. Gordon Lightfoot looked like he had one foot in the grave back then. I wonder how Sylvia felt singing that song with Ian, knowing it was about his true love, he left behind in BC and continued loving for 60 years?

Many years ago, before Ian Tyson was a Canadian Music Star, he toured small towns across Canada with a Bus which carried themselves ( Ian & Sylvia ) as well as their band, instruments, costumes. He was on this particular day playing in the village of Manitou, Manitoba and staying at the local hotel at that time named the Manitou Motor Hotel. I never had any interest in Country Music and had no idea who Ian Tyson was. Anyways being bored, Mr. Tyson asked the waitresses in the Hotel if by chance there might be an Antique Dealer in Manitou. He was advised that directly across the street lived a fellow by the name of Ron Watson, and he was known to deal in Antiques. I never advertised for walk in business as this is an Agricultural area and I sold very high end Antiques Internationally via the Internet, not the sort of things farmers had an interest in. Anyway, without knocking on my door in walks a guy dressed like a cowboy and wearing a ten gallon hat. To my amazement the guy picks up a 19th century french bronze by Carrier valued at that time around $ 3500.00 US and declares to me as I stood up from my Oak Roll Top Desk valued at that time and which I still use at $ 5000.00 US. that he was a BIG TIME COLLECTOR of ANTIQUES. I said to him, " Cowboy there isn't a God Damned thing in this room that you could afford. " With that I walked to my office door and said " Get Out . " I was the talk of the town. "Just imagine, Ron Watson threw Ian Tyson out of his office. " I laughed my head off when I was told whom I had thrown out of my office.
