Adobe, you should update your zip to include the latest files. I tried downloading it for this Iris Substance, and it looks like it only goes to Tip #23.

we switched from having one zip for all quicktips up to nr 23, to having a zip per video from 23 onwards. I just tested this one and it works fine ?

Any plans for shader editor that's build in directly in AE? I tired Blender instead of Substance and it worked fine, but would prefer to stay within a single tool. And also support for animated textures would be great, as we need a way to render them watches with animated faces!

5:06 To automatically load all textures, they use probably Node Wrangler Addon in Blender. Install it if you don't have it, then select the Principle BSDF, CTRL + Shift + T, and finally you can select your textures like in this video. They will be connected in their correct input.

A few questions: 1) Does the resolution setting matter when exporting SBSAR, or can we modify the resolution from the SBSAR in something like substance painter or Unreal? 2) I noticed when I brought my file into Unreal, the colors and render looked quite different. Any tips on how to maintain accurate color profiles for Unreal when we are designing in Substance Designer? Basically, what do we set the settings to in Designer before we start designing so we know it it will look that way when we export for Unreal Engine? 3) We never got the translucency finished for the cloth which is one of the coolest touches of yours you highlight. How do we activate that for Unreal?

Almost near the end of this course and it has by far exceeded my expectations! I feel so much more comfortable now using designer. I now realize it was Designer I should've been using instead of Painter this whole time. You have significantly corrected my workflow, leveled up my knowledge of materials, increased my efficiency, and now made me much more resourceful in creating my own scalable solutions for all my projects. Thank you for this amazing series! The Curvature Smooth node seems to be different than other videos i've seen as of lately. I guess they updated it, but there are 3 different output options on the node now. Curvature, Convexity, and Concavity. I'm assuming we use the curvature output for all the uses in your video, is this correct? Do you have another video discussing the different uses for the other two outputs?

old video indeed missleading, changes to UI, no mention of why baking is important in start (generators wont work if not), not able to mask material, stumble stop troubleshoot the old info. needs update, good info good pace etc just too out of date now.

Will there possibly be a directional input added to this node in the future? The x and y size is great but being able to control the exact direction a shape is being beveled along would be a great addition. Im sure it could be done with more advanced graphs already but I have yet to dive into the pixel processor. I always appreciate the new nodes and feature showcases. Thank you for the video!

By changing our 3D Viewport Default Height settings, does that not change the accuracy of our settings for other viewports? Are we artificially increasing it only for that viewport and not for other applications we may be exporting it to? Would it not be better to make sure all our materials look correct with the default settings or does the viewport changes actually impact our exported results?

In this case you're only affecting this specific viewport and it has no effect on your exported maps. It's up to you to pick a setting that matches the settings in your final application viewport

The plugin is broken in Blender 4.3. Everything stays black in the material. After checking the shader setup there were no connections in de shader graph between the nodes. After connecting all the nodes manually(TEDIOUS) I got a decent material but after tweaking everything breaks again.

I dont understand why 32 bit automatically becomes hdr? And also why hdr is necessary? Don't the new extremes just become 0 and 1?

32bit doesn't have to be HDR, technically you could have LDR 32bit, but in Substance we've chosen not to expose that kind of extreme precision. HDR is explained at 4:15, no? The reason we don't do "relative" HDR, is you want to have absolute brightness values, otherwise you'd have to scale up all these 0-1 ranges to some arbitrary other range, it gets messy (think of how height/displacement max values are always different between apps). This absolute HDR value method is also standard between all applications using HDR data, and was established well before Substance apps even existed.

We work with Substance Stager in the company, but we still can't use the GPU power for rendering. Why release software for creatives that doesn't run on computers preferred by creatives? We love Stager deeply but are starting to need more support for Apple Silicon.

I absolutely love Painter, but I swear the Painter developers have never used any other software to see how everyone else has just created a standardised method. Anchor points are weird - why couldn't they just copy the mask and then 'paste as instance' or something, whatever you do to it is just duplicated on the instances, and have an icon over the mask to say it's clone. Anchor points are so un-necessarily complicated for simple process.

also, you forgot that there are linear space with equal density of bits/details and non-linear, adapted for our perception (we see colors much better in the midtones)

That doesn't matter exactly for data storage though. You can save Linear as 8 or 16 bit, same for srgb: take basecolor vs HDRI for example. We didn't want to complicate things even more by drawing color management in.

2:09 PLEASE STOP use dots or commas as divider for orders. There are thin space, apostrophe ’ or even minute ' symbol for that. All these symbols are at the top and never mixes with bottom like commas/dots

Decimal separators differ between cultures. Can never get it right for everybody. Exact numbers here are shown as example, not perfect reference, so don't get hung up on it.
