Sounds like common German Shepherd assertiveness. In my opinion, the owner should be keenly aware of how their dog presents and interacts with other dogs. I am new to having Shepherds. My male is friendly but is incredibly bold upon initial contact. Hackle up, sniffing, invading space. For people that don't know him, in can be unnerving, scary, and alarming. I don't know anyone else's experience with dogs when we cross paths, so I call and leash him as soon as I notice the presence of others, especially if they have a dog with them. I am no professional but know that my dog's behavior is common to the breed. In knowing that, I do everything I can to alleviate the potential of someone having to be put in an unnecessary position of having to figure out my dog's intention because I chose to let him wander and do whatever the fuck he wants off leash. Shepherds are notoriously bullheaded when they want something and should be with handlers that are willing to assert dominance (with positive reinforcement, training, and especially repetition) to keep them from reversing the role (i.e. jumping in the middle of your family and posturing, which can easily instigate a fight and let them think they are in charge by the handler letting them get away with it)

What’s the next stage after this? My boy will recall on a long line at home, but if there are any distractions out in public, there is no recall.
@TheCanineRevolution3 жыл бұрын
This is a similar game but work playing also. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5KlYYaQrtScmMk If you have a long line toss out and once they get food you can apply pressure to wards you with the lead. Once they move say good dog and reward as they come in. Then start to add distractions.

Looking at getting a crate for my puppy french bulldog. What size is this one? Internet says to get a 30” crate even for when its fully grown but will it not be a bit cramped? Looking at either a 30” or 36”
@TheCanineRevolution3 жыл бұрын
Daniel Hewitt make sure the crate is big enough for your dog to stand up tall, turn around etc. as adults bigger is good. Even next stage above and have large dog run. While pups are young the opposite is better for toilet training etc.
@TheCanineRevolution3 жыл бұрын
Jacquie Crawley dogs need to be comfortable, happy and relaxed in crates for toilet training, sleep over at nana house, transport while flying or in cars or utes, at the vets. Teaching dogs to be happy and comfortable is completely different than caging an animal like a and old school zoo.

@Jacquie Crawley well this is the thread of my comment, if you want to make your own comments to ‘The Canine Revolution’ i suggest making your own comment outside my thread. Also its not really just to the The Canine Factory is it? As i have done my homework thanks, i just wanted some advice. Maybe you should worry about looking after your ‘NINE’ dogs and keep your snarky comments to yourself.

No No No Horrible and out dated. You should know better. Far long after the Citronella is sprayed that shit is stuck up the dogs nose and is correcting them for a behavior they did 45 mins ago. They have extremely sensitive noses and ya gonna spray them with this shit. Better off with a bark collar at least its a quick stim then its over.
@omarijoseph31894 жыл бұрын
so what is the clicking thing for?
@TheCanineRevolution3 жыл бұрын
Omari Joseph it marks the correct behaviour. Makes learning faster. Once they keep doing the behaviour and doing it well then we add the cue such as “get in the crate”

thank you very much!! I’m going to try this with my 4yo rescue gall we were told she doesn’t play at all, but we got her chasing and biting balls. tug is something I thought she’d enjoy she just doesn’t get it yet! : )

lissv that’s awesome. How is she going with it.
@wclfvee4 жыл бұрын
The Canine Revolution i just made the toy out of old tees and tried to get her in a playful mood with her ball first. She wasn’t really engaging with the tug after that. Would it be a good idea to hide some treats in it later to get her used to it?
@wclfvee4 жыл бұрын
The Canine Revolution we had a breakthrough today! I put some treats in it and I let her eat a couple out it. Then I started teasing her with the tug, pulling it away so she had to chase it, wriggling it so she had to bite it!! So pretty good progress because she didn’t touch it before!
@TheCanineRevolution4 жыл бұрын
lissv woohoo. That’s awesome. The fun begins

The Canine Revolution today we made some big progress! She was in a playful mood and trying to grab my hands and then I was like omg the perfect opportunity so I got the tug and she was biting it!! I was holding it quite loosely so she pulled it from my hands a couple times : )
