I don't see any guides there, is the saw not falling off the wheel?

Correct there are no guides here. It is a test run.

I do have a couple questions. What is the speed of the blade? How long is the blade? Engine HP? What did you use for the blade guides? Is it an automatic feed, how does that work? oh and what about safety and libility, Thats gotta be an issue, insurance? I have been wanting to build one, I have some blades, axels, tires and wheels so far, and I have an old car lift with 2 20' eye-beams i could run the saw on. I hope that's not too many questons..,.
@seanjmichel3 ай бұрын
I sort of piecemeal'd this thing together. You will see some more information in some of my other videos. Blade length is about 12 feet. Engine is a 16hp kohler. I have a gear reduction set up w a jack shaft to run about 4200 feet per min at wot, which seems appropriate. Blade guides were one of the few things I bought, I got them from cooks saw. I built my own power feed by modifying a harbor freight winch, and hooked it up to a DC pulse width modulator I bought on Amazon so i can control feed. I have a video on that. I do not have any special insurance, I do this as a hobby, not professionally. Let me know if you have e any other questions.

Can’t it fall off the wheel with to much pressure or smth?
@seanjmichel2 ай бұрын
Yeah it could prob fall off the wheel for sure
@Vanislandtrailblazer2 ай бұрын
@@seanjmichel any way to prevent that? Considering building my own or do you have to put a full case around it.

@@Vanislandtrailblazer I added blade guides, I got them from cooks saw. This was just a test run to see how my jack shaft would work.

Really awesome!! A few years ago they did away with all the distributor/magneto testers. Would you be able to check and see if they still have any at the school before they get tossed in the dumpster. I just missed one by a couple days and I was very sad about that. Fantastic garage. It show you are very busy!!

All I see is the welds breaking and someone is decapitated Not your welds, but the welds that hold the blades together they frequently snap Also the tension looks a little loose the blade should be a lot stiffer
@seanjmichel5 ай бұрын
This was a test run. It's got a shroud now and have used it quite a bit. Yes, tension was not quite there yet. No decapitations in the 2 years yet. Thanks for tuning in.

2:15 I have yet to pick up an old worm. I used to work with a couple of them years ago. They were good to cross cut 4'. But I digress.. There was one for sale in Jersey last week for $10 bucks. I didn't think it would last. One of these days I'll spot a good deal at a yard sale....I hope.
