To me the point of impact is not the roof its the side rafter being pushed inwards. The inward movement pulled at the beam supporting the door and crushed inwards (not downwards) the plastic on the roof. Is the tree on that side? Does it line up with rafter damage?

I miss my silkie hens so much. I had two broody hens sitting side by side trying to hatch eggs forever. When the first two babies hatched, they both abandoned the rest of their eggs and co-parented the two that hatched. There was no jealousy or possessiveness, they were just all four together at all times and both hens treated them like their own. At night, all four would just cuddle up together. It was sooo sweet.

Could someone explain why people don't want the pine to burn? Does it lead to too much creosote?
@OldReddingFarmКүн бұрын
Yes that's exactly right. A lot of people burn pine but to me (and the wife) it's just not worth the risk. Especially with wood fire being our only heat source so we have a fire going all day every day and we think better safe than sorry with the safety of our home, ourselves and our pets in mind.
@kho2333Күн бұрын
Thanks a ton for this info! My wife and I are new to having a wood burning stove and had a lot of issues last year that seem to stem from burning wet woods low. Going to clean things this summer and see if we have better luck burning seasoned hardwoods at a hotter temperature next year. Thanks again!

Question - If several females lay eggs do they put them in the same nest and the male sits on all of them or would several males sit? They are so cute and they will be much friendlier if hand raised.

Can you separate the Dad & babies so the females can’t get to them until they get bigger? - they are too cute 🥰
@OldReddingFarm3 күн бұрын
We have been talking all weekend about what to do and I think with the set up we have right now it's just not secure enough, but we want to keep all these babies and the next year we will have a set up that will be safer for them, and we will let Dad keep some babies.

What if the chickens eat the pellets? Does it hurt them?
@OldReddingFarm3 күн бұрын
We have been using these for years now and the chickens always give a little peck when we first put them down and then very quickly lose interest in them.

Hope the rest of the show goes well for you guys. Safe travel bag John.

Then do you think we should add more soil around the base to stop those suckers from coming back ? Or will that make it worse ?

You should trim the suckers off of the tree - it will keep your tree healthy ❤
@OldReddingFarm4 күн бұрын
And then should we add more soil around the base to stop them? Or less soil around the base ? Or is this just ongoing maintenance of grafted trees ?
@lisabriscolino34174 күн бұрын
@@OldReddingFarm you don’t want to add soil as it will cover the “ crown” of the tree and that needs to have good airflow around it- just watch and trim off any suckers that grow- You can add soil over tree roots that are on the ground but keep the base of the tree open - you can mulch around the tree but again keep the crown clear
@gretchenmiller36396 күн бұрын
Suckers are vigorous upright growing stems that form at the base of a tree or from the root system causing stems to appear inches or feet from the base of the trunk. They are problematic because they can reduce flowering and fruiting, alter the form of the tree, harbor pests and diseases, and look unsightly.
@gretchenmiller36396 күн бұрын
I meant to add, I would trim them off sooner than later before they cause issues.

@@OldReddingFarm I never intentionally touch one (unless I can get someone to hold my hand), but c’mon, I always feel more alive after I get that little hit. And it happens. I don’t even take aspirin so this might be the closest thing to doing drugs I’ll ever enjoy. People talk about getting buzzed. Makes sense. 😂
