I think it’s an interesting way to begin the piece in the minor mode. The place where you introduced the major 3rd seems like a logical place to do so because the melody lends itself to a brighter feeling. To me, the change is smooth because it’s happening in the dominant 5th of the key. I’m rusty on musical terms; it sounds like you began in D Minor, then the change happens in the A or 5th note of the D minor scale. I hope I’m being clear! What you played sounds pretty seamless to me.

O soul are you weary and troubled No light in the darkness you see There's light for a look at the Savior And life more abundant and free Turn your eyes upon Jesus Look full in his wonderful face And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of his glory and grace His word shall not fail you he promised Believe him and all will be well Then go to a world that is dying His perfect salvation to tell Turn your eyes upon Jesus Look full in his wonderful face And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of his glory and grace O soul are you weary and troubled No light in the darkness you see There's light for a look at the Savior And life more abundant and free Turn your eyes upon Jesus Look full in his wonderful face And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of his glory and grace

Crown him with many crowns, the Lamb upon his throne. Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own. Awake, my soul, and sing of him who died for thee, and hail him as thy matchless king through all eternity. 2 Crown him the Lord of life, who triumphed o'er the grave, and rose victorious in the strife for those he came to save; his glories now we sing who died and rose on high, who died eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die. 3 Crown him the Lord of love; behold his hands and side, rich wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified; no angels in the sky can fully bear that sight, but downward bends their burning eye at mysteries so bright. 4 Crown him the Lord of years, the potentate of time, creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably sublime. All hail, Redeemer, hail! for thou hast died for me; thy praise shall never, never fail throughout eternity.

I love your playing style. Do you have all these pieces memorized? 😯 At what point in a worship service do you play this music? I’m an extra piano player at my church and sometimes I play for 15 minutes prior to the worship service beginning, which we call Gather to Worship. I’m thinking these types of arrangements would be perfect for that time. Do you offer these arrangements for sale, Jenifer? I don’t have a gift for improvisation or arranging, so having printed music is my saving grace! Thank you so much for sharing your God given gift with us! ❤-Brenda

You're right. There hymns would be appropriate were prelude. These arrangements were spontaneous pieces. I do have a lot arrangements available at www.thechurchpianist.com
