Dont think Alpina in Buchloe were building many right hand drive cars if any in 1988 , thats the reason Sytner were given permission to do the conversions in Nottingham , in 1988 you had 2 options , buy your Alpina from Sytner or buy another car and live out the rest of your days wishing you had gone to Sytner 😁

F111 HCH has been untaxed since April 2011 and it’s last MOT ran out in March 2015 - I hope it’s still alive somewhere!

Methinks it was actually a bit quicker than that but yes... 30 years is a long time folks. My '88 535is is a complete dog by comparison at 7.5 but I don't mind. The BiTurbo ran 4.9, about level with a Countach.

Kids can't relate it on that time. Image that on that time the newest diesels were all naturally aspirated and few years earlier first turbos kicked in... On that year my dad had Y Datsun which had 1.4 engine. And you laugh for this? I laugh for your boys knowledge. Sadge

F960MJH - it's MOT expired in 2012 and it's not been taxed since 2003 (Not quite sure why it was MOT'd but untaxed). I wonder if the car survives somewhere in a lockup or garage.

This is 1988 - the car is a 1988 registration and he mentions that the E34 was launched "this summer". The E34 was launched in the UK in June '88 :)
