Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl named Ella whose mother died and so did her father. She was left with her wicked stepmother and two evil stepsisters and made her do all the chores. Ella liked to sleep by the cinders and soon, one sunny day, Anastasia saw her face black and called her cinder-ella since her face was covered in cinders. One day, a royal message came and a Ball was going to be at the Palace. But Cinderellas wicked stepmother told her she couldn’t go. She made her own dress but the stepsisters ruined it. Cinderella couldn’t help but cry. All of a sudden a fairy godmother appeared. And made Cinderella’s wishes came true with a pumpkin into a carriage and mice into horses. Cinderella’s ugly clothes changed into a pretty blue gown and famous glass slippers. Cinderella hopped into her carriage but a catch was this: she had to be back before the clock stroke 12. If not, she would be doomed to have everything back to normal. Cinderella entered the ball and everyone’s eyes were memorized by her gown. No one knew who she was, not even her own stepmother and stepsisters! The prince went over to her and asked her to dance. And they did! Soon, the big clock caught her eye. It was nearly midnight! Right at that moment, she remembered the fairy’s caution. She ran away but when she was running down the stairs, one of her glass shoes fell off her foot! The prince found it and explained he should look for the mystery girl. He went to every house, but none of them fit the shoe. Finally, he reached Cinderellas house and the shoe didn’t fit Anastasia, nor Drizella. It only fit Cinderella and the prince and Cinderella got married and lived happily ever after! THE END!

Never call Cinderella weak. There is NO weakness in being kind and loving and forgiving, there is NO weakness in falling in love. Thank you, Lily James for not underestimating Cinderella's value. Thank you, Mr. Walt Disney for setting all best examples. Love is always the answer. No remake can surpass this live action.

Shrek once asked "why is it always midnight?" If the fairy godmother had come to Cinderella earlier, she would have had longer. It was because the magic only lasts for the day. At midnight, it's a new day. I also love the sense of urgency they add to the scene with the gears winding up to add that first gong, having the clock's gongs, the magic slowly just running out.

Ngl i doubt she even truly loves her daughters. (i mean ofc she does but she definetly loves herself more) Notice how she said she married to cinderella's father for her daughter's sake but when she found out cinderella could be marrying the prince, she could have simply requested her to marry the stepsisters to good homes. Ella is too kind and lady tremaine knows she would gladly do that but instead she decides to "demand" something that is not hers and she does not even deserve not for her daughters but for herself. You would think that a parent who has struggled so much would dedicate her life to her children's happiness but she is still living in the delusion that she deserves to be in the spotlight.

I do think that this scene depicts what evil is all about - what we call about putting blame of our actions towards other people, for making ourlives how they have been. It isn't much of our disappointment towards life, it is about how we have become bitter by the adverse incidents and how we manage them.

Lady Tremaine is a narcissist, it’s uncanny how all these characters reflect a textbook evil that exists in real life. Not just in fairy tales.

I don't know if it was intentional but I like the symbolism in this scene. Cinderella is standing the whole time in clear vision, in the light, though there are some shadows on her face a few times. The stepmother, begins by being mostly in shadows, only small parts of her face and dress are visible. After she finishes her story and starts to walk towards Ella, she starts to make demands. While doing this, she is entering into the light. This can be interpreted as something like "now her pure intentions are coming out and into the light", though they've been quite clear during the whole movie. But it's different this time. She's the one speaking them out. Either way, intentional or not, the scene was well done!

The choices made by Cinderella and Lady Tremaine in this scene were poignant to show what they truly are. Lady Tremaine could have just apologised to Ella knowing that she will marry the king, but she didn’t. She still chose to be cruel to her in spite of that fact. Ella could have just said yes to the request of her stepmother since she doesn’t have to keep her words, but she chose to be courageous to stood up to her.

Finally! A remake that gives us the answers we were looking for. Now, I am not saying that Lady Tremaine is in the right. However, if there is anyone who can understand her pain of loss it is Cinderella. Yes, they are not biologically related in anyway, but they both lost someone they loved very deeply. Lady Tremaine with her husband and Ella with both of her parents. Now, someone had found a theory that Ella’s father was not an innocent man in the 1950’s version. This person theorized that Ella’s father only married Lady Tremaine as a both financially and nanny. Ella’s father (1950’s) said that her father brought her whatever she wanted in order to help Ella live without the pain of losing her mother. But he never spoke on an emotional level or through getting to know how to raise his own child. So, when he met Lady Tremaine she was grieving over the loss of her husband for six years. And Ella’s (1950’s) father lied and told all the sweet lies to get Lady Tremaine to marry him. Because through his reckless spending he had mountain debts. So, within a few short days, yes, DAYS Lady Tremaine truly believed she had found the man she could love and get through. But once the I do’s were over Ella’s (1950’s) dad completely ignored Lady Tremaine and expected her to take care of his daughter. Lady Tremaine tried asking someone for help through some of her old friends in London for help but it never came. So, for years Lady Tremaine had to mask her anger and pain which is why in the 1950’s version she looks cold, angry, and had that aura of wanting to shout. But once Ella’s father (1950’s) passed away, she took her rage and frustration out on Ella. I know it has nothing to do with the 2015 version but Finally! For years I never could grasp how anyone thinks that it is their right to neglect someone like this. The person who made that theory had read a Disney Villain’s sort of origin story. A female author I sadly don’t know her name but her last Valentino.

Lily James please refrain from sticking your head outside of the pumpkin. And for the love of all things holy please set still until the ride is over. Believe it or not but I did feel a little bit terrified for you no really while watching this scene. I truly felt like anxious and worried that I'll be absolutely devastated if you ever got hurt. Every time I see this scene I feel sorrow in my eyes praying and hoping that you don't get hurt. Even right now I'm having little bit of tears my eyes right now I was so actually terribly worried. I truly hope that you walked away from the scene unhurt without any scrapes and scratches. I would feel absolutely terrible if you got hurt in any way😢

The only thing tha did changed back to its original is her glass slippers becos the glass slippers were a magic gift for her, since her old pair of shoes she was wearing did not change by the fairy godmother, that's why the shoes remain as it is till end.

Как цинично и нагло разговаривала мачеха с Золушкой, Золушка, наконец-то стала возражать своей мучительнице.В конце концов она выразила свое отношение к этой злой женщине. В этом случае доброта и порядочность не помогут.
